Plants look like dying by
Dukester
I have a 26 gallon bow front. With lots of plants. I have 55 watts of
light running 12 hours a day. I notice some of my plants are dying.
The leaves look like you can see thru them. Like as if it is
disintergrating or something. Other plants are fine. It is strange..
Is that lack of some type...

what is typical nutrient uptake per day? by
Dave@AquaFlora
Hi! Does anyone know what the typical nutrient uptake per day is from
plants? Chuck Gadd's calculator is great for figuring out how much of what
compound to reach target ppms...but if I don't know how quickly this is
being used up then it's either a guessing game or I have to test the water
every...

Lighting Question...part 2 by
Steve Rosenthal
In a subsequent post I had asked what lighting was recommended for a 29g
(US) planted tank. Currently I have the stock lighting, and although the
plants are doing alright, they could obviously do much better with the
proper lighting. I have looked on a couple of site and found 36in lighting
kits,...

Unsolved CO2 Mysteries by
[email protected]
I've been using CO2 injection on my 75 gallon tank for several months
now. I noticed today that every plant was just covered with bubbles
which normally would be a good thing except that it started happening
all at once. I also noticed that I'm getting a continuous stream of
bubbles from the Co2...

General questions about freshwater plants by
[email protected]
I am going to set up a plant tank ... or at least a tank with as many
plants as possible. I would like to keep a few fish in it to produce
some nitrates for the plants. What fish are plant friendly? (I was
thinking about some neon terta, a beta, and maybe some of the aquatic
frogs ... not sure what...

Life Expectancy of Magnum 350 Filter? by
Dick
My Magnum 350 filter is going on 6 years old with replacement of only
o-rings and gaskets. It has been making a 'rattling' or 'buzzing' noise for
many months that I don't remember. It is working hard pushing water
through a CO2 reactor. It could be air or CO2 in the impellor area, but I
don't...

Onyx gravel residue? by
Bill Stock
Does Onyx gravel give off as many fine particles as Fluorite?
I was wondering if I could swap out most of the gravel in my Tropical tank
without tearing down the tank? I've added small amounts of Fluorite (pots)
before and even with extensive rinsing it still clouds the water a bit.

CO2 contraptions- Red Sea by
fusQuanto
is anyone familiar with the red sea co2 injector? is it worth buying?
it has a powered head that delivers the co2 into the aquarium, sounds
like it would suck in lots of co2 too fast, thus making you buy new
product to refill it for $$$. of course, id use the DIY yeast method
thereafter.
also at...

Planning on coming back for answers, better be ready ;-) by
red_foreman
Hey all, it's been a while. Lots going on, school, work, life, etc...
Recently moved, and had a very fun (sarcastic) time moving the tanks of
fish and geckos, and now the turtle... but that's another board
altogether...
Wish I could write more, but haven't the time...

Effects of fertilizers on nature by
Victor Martinez
wrote:
What are you thoughts?
Fertilizer runnoff does have a severe ecological impact. It causes algae
to thrive, which in turn hurts the local ecosystems in rivers and
streams, even lakes.
We only use organic fertilizers (liquid seaweed, bone meal, fish
emulsion,...
