Dumb Question?? by
Connie
Ok, I have plants now. They are in my tank all nice, NOW. So.... when it
comes to suctioning my gravel, and dumping water in the tank, how do I do
this without destroying the plants. How will they ever root? Also, I have a
java fern rubber banded to one of my decor, is this correct?
Thanks...

Justin
Hi all,
I appear to have gotten something wrong... A while ago I posted a question
re doesing phosphate into my tank as in australia we have little to no

I already have the tank set up, and it has a few danio's living
happily in it, swimming around the plants I already have...
I am looking for 3 different questions to be answered...
1. What makes a good "ground cover" plant...

Can DIY CO2 do a 150 Gal Tank? by
Dr_No
I'm in the process of setting up my 150 gal tank. Looks like my funds wont
stretch to a presurised CO2 setup so i am wondering if DIY soda bottle/yeast
CO2 systems can work with a tank this size?
I plan to use a powerhead into a gravel vac with bioballs/sponge to disolve
the CO2 so it should be...

can increase in water temperature affect algae growth? by
Dave@aquaflora
I have been wondering why my tank, after a good year of no algae has started
growing some again. I believe this has occurred right after I added a school
of clown loaches and increased my aquarium temperature from 77 to about 82.
Does warmer temperatures add more favourable conditions for...

can worms live in the substrate - is it a good thing by
Paul A. Ergh
I just got back from the LFS with a single serving of live black worms.
When I put them in the tank I was amazed to see a few "get away" by wiggling
into the substrate. Not sure why I was so amazed to see a worm burrow into
sand but I was.
Now I am wondering:
- can they survive in my...

Right angled Needle valve? by
Bill Stock
I recently bought a JBJ regulator with needle valve and bubble counter. Even
though I plan to get a PH controller for it, I'd still like to change the
needle valve. It's pretty much impossible to get a stable bubble count out
of this thing. It's either 1 bps or 4 bps. Even if I get it close to...

Hornwort varieties? by

How many varieties of hornwort are there? I can never seem to find it on the
Tropica site.
I bought some yesterday from PetSmart along with the three new Ottos and it
seems to be a different variety than the pond hornwort I've had before. It
has coarser, shorter needles than the pond hornwort and...

Java Fern by
winddancir
It's a good thing that I've seen other ferns do this, or I would thing some alien creature was attaching itself to my fern!
I now know that the Java fern is a mother fern type, meaning its offspring sprout from its leaves. I had stuck my ferns in a small container and stuck it on the window sill...

Melting Banana by

Hi group, I've got a question about the little banana plant. Mine is

chance to get much bigger than a silver dollar (coin). This just
started about 2 weeks ago. I've had it for a few months and it has
grown several larger...

Seaclear tank lighting question by

I have 46g seaclear tank. Currently, I am using a 65w CF and a 20w

Now, I try to replace a 20w fluorescent by another 65w CF. However, I am not
sure if the heat of 2 65w CF can cause problem for the hood coming with

planting in pots by
Toffee
Got a very large tank with has 3" of sand and no UGF. Thinking of putting
plants in pots (say 6"-8" pots with holes on sides) and bury them in sand.
This way I don't have to redo all the substrate.
Will it work? What would the best best substrate for these pots? I am
going to plant large swords...
