I am new here and as you can see from the title of my post I am ill with my
reef tank. I have a 75 gal reef set up that I could never get the handle on
and set up right. This has been going on for about 3 years. Before then I
had always been in freshwater (7 years). Thinking of coming...

new freshwater tank setup(newbie questions) by
Peter Demski
I just got a set of 3 90 gallon tanks yesterday and I am anxious to
set them up. I have been trying to do some research online since
I want them to be planted tanks. I have to buy everything so I want
to make sure and do it right. I am wondering if I should use Onyx or
Flourite sand in my tank. ...

Ballast - How does it relate to plants? by
Aaron
Thanks for the ballast info everyone. I just read about
magnetic ballast, people taking out the old ballast, putting in
a new ballast. Buying a cheap light, but replacing the ballast
and maybe hood, etc.
What for?
Do certain ballast make the plants grow better? Or is it a guy
thing, where you...

Holey Cryptocorynes by
Nikki Casali
All my Cryptocorynes seem to have perfect holes in their leaves:

It seems like it's getting worse recently. I dosed with nitrate
experimentally for the first time, so I don't know if that is a
coincidence. The amount of fish food I...

Emersed, is that why my anubias grew so much? by
Aaron
I was thinking, maybe this is why my anubias grew so much. The
water evaporates and I neglect it so it drops down a couple
inches and the leaves at the top are no longer under water and
the plant is emersed and grows more and shoots leaves out the
narrow opening at the back and also through those...

How to properly vased plants? by
[email protected]
Hi,
I am just curious about something.
The plants that I buy at the store are vased and the roots are
encercled with some kind of foam stuff...
My question is, when to put it in the tank, do we keep that foam stuff
or it should be removed and only the plant should be planted in the
gravel?

Am I suppose to be...

Trace Element Mix by
puneet
Hi,
I am new to planted aquariums, and would like to make PMDD(fertilizer)
for my water gardern. I understand that we need to add some compounds
to the water which include Potassium Nitrate and a Chealated Trace
Element Mix. I understand what is pot Nitrate, but then what is this
trace element mix....

think my plants are getting enough light. I have 2 40 watt bulbs on it
