pH probe maintenance by
Nikki Casali
How often should continuous pH probes be cleaned and with which
solutions? How long do you leave the probe in the cleaning solution?
Should you place the probe in a storage solution after?
How about refillable probes and how often do they need refilling?
How do you calibrate yours?

Diatom clogging help? by
Shagster
Hello,
I have recently added a Diatom filter to my 29 gallon tank.. The output of
the diatom pumps through a Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer. Although the Diatom
works FANTASTIC, it clogs within 2-3 days.. That's a little too much
maintenance for me.. Right now, I'm running the diatom without the...

Drip irrigation parts? by
Bill Stock
I'm looking for some info on drip irrigation parts. I'll be setting up a
continuous water change system down the road (tank needs moved first), so
I'm doing a bit of research. I've seen that some people use a pressure
regulator valve and others use a "drip irrigation controller". I gather the
drip...

Plants & Lighting for Deep Tanks by
John >
I have a DEEP 42" High tank that I would like to plant with North American
Pond Plants. I understand the 2 - 4 watt per gallon rules for standard
height tanks. This one is 1000 gallons, I cannot even dream of providing
4,000 watts of light. I think my biggest concern is getting light to...

PMDD and water cjhanges? by
Bill Stock
Do you spike your PMDD after a large water change?
Boring background follows:
I've been adding about 2 ml a day of PMDD to my Plant tank (75 G -eventually
community tank) for 6 months. I add N separately, so this is not part of the
mix. It tested at .1 FE a few months ago, but I have not tested...

Calcium Carbonate by
Bam Cond
I have an acid neutraliser on my water system. We are on a well which is
fairly acidic. I am thinking about using the calcium carbonate from the
neutralizer to raise the ph in my tank. Currently it is at 6.2 which seems a
little low.
Does anyone have an idea for how much to add at one time. I have...

Help with clarifying lighting stats. by
Dances_With_Ferrets
I am updated the plant care sheets that we hand out to interested
customers at work. I was hoping that someone could clarify the measure
of kelvins, light spectrum, and how they relate to growing plants. I
thank you in advance for your help on this.

light color by

Yup, this topic again.... real quick.
I just bought a 5100K tube, GE T8 32W and a T8 32W 3500K. The 5100K is
a very slight blue-white-ok the 3500K is a slight pink. HUH!? I thought
it would be yellow, y'know, warm temps mimic incandescent lighting? The
40W T12 4100K's I have are yellow-ish.

The Definitive Chord & Scale Bible - Literally EVERY chord and scale! by
Kind of Blue 4513
Finally it exists!! IF YOU PLAY GUITAR, YOU NEED THIS BOOK!! Listen
to my story:
In the process of teaching myself guitar, I went looking for a book
that simply had the all the chords, scales and modes, and nothing else.
I was totally surprised to find that such a book didn't exist. There

This one seems to cause some very negative comments. by
spiral_72
Alright, I've got this idea. Boy, that sounds like the beginning to an
end.
I figure I can drop dry ice in a tank, cap it with a regulator and have
CO2 for some period of time for my planted aquarium. Obviously it will
require more than a handful of dry ice and chances are it ain't quite
that...

More on pearling... by
Justin
Hi all,
I would like to think I have an OK plant tank. I have read articles,
watched videos and monitor the parameters of my tank closely, but I am still
yet to see pearling on a regular basis.
I understand that it is where the plants continue producing o2 after the
saturation point of the water...

Question for T. Barr (or whomever else feels like answering!) by
Tony Volk
Hi Tom. In my last reply to you regarding algae advice (under the old
thread algae control poll), you said:
"Try adding proper CO2 levels and keeping that stable.
Do some weekly 50% water changes.
Dose good CO2 and nutrients levels and you will none have these
problems and much better plant...

Question about the Tom Barr DIY CO2 Reactor. by
Ozdude
Hi Tom,
I made the reactor at long last and it's only been running about 12 hours.
I have a quick question:
Is it normal for tiny little CO2 bubbles to come out of the bottom of this
unit?
I presume the rest of the CO2 that's whirling around up the top eventually

BBA: the next step by
Nikki Casali
OK, so moving on to plan B. I am finding the control of BBA extremely
time consuming. It's the most tenacious algae. Hell, I don't even get
green spot algae anymore. BBA grows very slowly, but it still bugs me as
it excludes me from keeping very slow growing plants.
I have a spare 110 litre...
