Is 1.6 wpg enough for a low maintenance, non CO2 planted tank by
Harry Muscle
I'm gonna be modifying my All Glass hood soon to get more lighting for my
new 55G tank. I'm hoping to achieve a tank that gives me ok growth (ie:
trim once a month or two). One that won't require CO2 (although I will be
using Flourish Excel). I have fertilizers on hand, so I don't mind...

Aquaclear Filters... by
Nitesbane
What do you guys think about their "new" BioMax insert? The box claims
"Increases biological efficiency by 30%! Expands biological capacity of
aquariums. Provides optimal living conditions for beneficial bacteria."
I'm about to change the filter media on a new-ish tank and was wondering.
Thanks...

Odd Cloudy Water Question/Problem by
Tom Hale
First, sorry for the multiple cross-posts.
Second, sorry about the length.
I have a 55g Tall homemade tank that has about 3" of Laterite and
gravel mix. Tank has like 3-4 WPG and is moderately planted. About 9
months ago, with 2 angels and a pleco in the tank, the water turned
greyish-cloudy. ...

An apology by
CS
Hey All,
I just found out about the problems people have had with my postings. I did
not mean to cause any problems, nor am I a person who is collocting emails
for spam. I am just a regular hobbyist selling plants. I, for some reason,
am unable to reply to any postings--I can only post new...

Snails good or bad and how to get rid of them by
Jason Dale
I have over the last 4 months had a number of snails similar to the so
called beautiful snail at
http://www.applesnail.net/content/snails_various.php#Physidae in my
160 litre tank which don't seem to be hurting the leaves of the Crypt
Wendtii and Crypt Becketti or the Amazon Sword plants in the...

What's needed for plants in a 29g tank? by
nuchumYussel
I have a 29g freshwater aquarium, in this tank, are all plastic
plants. I would love to see no plastic in the tank, and all real live
plants. But I have many problems. The first of which is insufficient
lighting. It is only one fluorescent bulb. I know that has to be
upgraded. Another problem is...

Ground covering? by
Nitesbane
Is there a ground covering (maybe something that would provide *some*
protection for fry) that I can use in a low light aquarium with only gravel
as a substrate? I have a lot of java moss that rests on the bottom, but my
frogs like to dig it up before it can grab hold.

Just set up an automated CO2 system, a couple questions... by
Joe Sanders
I finally decided that Flourish Excel wasn't doing the best job at
maintaining my plants. No DIY setup here, I went all out and set up a
CO2 reactor, a tank w/ solenoid, and a pH computer to shut off the CO2
if it drops below 7.00.
Plants range from Giant Valis, Cambomba, Hornwort,...

Lighting by
Craig Brye
I'm looking for some insight/experience into what lighting system (watts) I should get for my 75 gal. tank? This will be heavily planted with CO2 injection and all that good stuff. The tank is the standard 48" x 18".
Any advice would be appreciated!

Is RO water necessary? by
Bawb2u
Do I need to tear my water apart and rebuild it? Really would rather not
have to.
If not, what are the most important parameters to be looking out for in
the public water supply?
In my town they add chloromines and then Potash to raise the ph to
almost 9.0. I currently run a spare 55gl tank to...

co2 disaster by

Came home today to find a very cloudy tank, with all my plants covered in
some white powdery substance. Took me about 5 seconds to realize what had
happened, my yeast had been sucked into the tank. Anybody else out there
have this happen to them? Luckily, the tank is new, no livestock except...
