Hi all, I recently bought a plant with long stem and small round leaves attached to the stems from the bottom of the stem to the top. I'm sorry I don't have the name of the plant, but can provide pictures of it if that is desired to determine the answer to my question. This plant had all green...

Carbo-Plus CO2? by fedward
Can any one tell me their experiences with a Carbo-Plus CO2 device? Does it work better than other CO2 setups? It looks fairly simple - but how is it for cost and reliability? I am using a CO2 tank and power reactor now and am wondering whether I should switch to the Carbo-Plus unit Thanks

I've set up a Yeast CO-2 system and have been toying with different ways of diffusing the gas into the tank. Last night I hooked the CO-2 line directly into the inlet of my canister filter. I was going to set up a powerhead and airstone as per a couple of websites but thought that the canister...

A friend called me and wants some banana plants... I told him to not do it, but he was calling from the LFS, so when I told him no, I overheard the LFS girl say, they're not a bog plant, they're aquatic, they'll be just fine... I _did_ say they might be a bog plant, cuz everyone I've ever had,...

Aponogeton seed pod? by Cichlidiot
Well, to my suprise, the Aponogeton plants that I have always assumed were sterile hybrids might just have been successful at reproducing after almost two years. When feeding the fish today, I looked at one of the decaying flower stalks and saw the following, which I assume is a...

Let part of filter clog? by Adam Gottschalk
In "A practical guide to choosing your aquarium plants", Peter Hiscock advocates letting one of the sponges in a canister filter clog up so as to allow for anaerobic bacteria to develop there, as a complement to the anaerobic bacteria which are (hopefully) building up in the substrate. For the...

Diatom Filter or H.O.T. Magnum by Squid
I was thinking about getting a Diatom Filter and got a little sidetracked by the H.O.T. Magnum which I guess comes with a Micron Cartridge that polishes the water. Considering the H.O.T. is priced rather low I was wondering what you guys thought of that as an alternative to a Diatom Filter right?
