Buying plants online? by
Adam Gottschalk
While my local aquarium places have plants, usually it's a small
selection, and I can't say I think the plants look like they're very
well cared for. I've found a couple of online sources, such as
aquaticplantdepot.com. Anyone here have experience with such dealers?
Are you more likely to get a...

Ok, so how do you do this? Stats first? OK:
20 gal undergravel filter and a Aqua Clear 150
22 fish and maybe snails as the 2 clowns just
love to dig a hole, rock by rock to eat something?
Really nice bright salmon colored ones, and their
fins are brillant and the black is dark black.

Prefilter for Fluval 404? by
Harry Muscle
I asked this question over in the misc group, but since prefilters seem to
be most often used in planted tanks, I thought I'd ask the same question
here too:
I'm setting up a 55G planted tank with a Fluval 404. I can't decide if I
should get a prefilter for the intake tube or not? What are the...

Nil Nitrate is Bad in PlantedTank? by
blank
Hmmm. I'm beginning to think I have misunderstood the role of nitrate in an
established planted freshwater aquarium. My ammonia level is almost always
zero (or so it appears from my Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit.) But
recently I have noticed newsgroup responses indicating that some nitrate...

What size aquarium? by
John
Hello.
I have a slightly strange question.
If I have just over 3KG of sand, what size of aquarium would I be able
to use this sand in as a substrate do you think?
I know this is a strange way of doing it because normally you choose
the aquarium and then buy enough sand or whatever to cover it,...

EBO-Jager, Fully submersible or not? by
Tom B.
I just purchased an Ebo-jager 100W heater for my 10g (I know a 50w would be
better for 10g but it's really a backup heater for my primary tank, a 20g)
tank thinking it was a fully submersible heater. when I got it though it
doesn't say anything specifically about being submersible and it has a...

Green Water and CO2 by
Shawn
I'm not a chemist. Can someone tell me what KNO3 is and where I can buy it
? I've been battling green water algae for a couple weeks now with no
success. I'm 2-day past a 5-day black out. I wrapped my 55gal in a heavy
blanket and duct-taped it shut. 5 days later I took it off and had...

Starting new planted tank by
TR
Hi,
I am planning to start a second aquarium (20 or 30G long), designed to
be planted from the start (my current one has plants but substrate is
bad).
I've been reading up on planted tank techniques and recommendations, but
I have a few questions in regards to maintenance.
I'm leaning towards a...

Carpet Plants by
Chuck
I am still new to planted aquarium so I thought this would be a good
place to ask. I have a 55 gallon aquarium(16 inches high) with flourite
and 2wpg compact flourescent lighting. My ph is 7.6 and I was wanting
to know what would be a good carpet plant to fill in the empty spots in
my aquarium...

Help with no growth by
Chris Schmelzer
Hello,
I've had a 55gal planted tank for over 5 years...
I initially lived in Milwaukee: The tank was initially setup with yeast
CO2, but my successful setup was
2 dbl tube flourescent lights stacked--approx 2w/gal
CO2 injected into Eheim 15-20ppm
weekly 20% water change
gravel with Dupla laterite
