Moss Ball by
Cammie
I purchased a cool looking moss ball for my tank. It is now opening up on
one end. I keep this open end face down to the gravel or little hairs of
the moss ball will separate from it and clog my filter.
Anyone have any info on how to care for the moss balls, or if them opening
up is normal? I...

Graham Broadbridge
Anyone out there have a source?
The plant nursury I used before no longer stocks KNO3, and I can only find
laboratory suppliers who want me to pay $50 for 500g.

Calcium deficiency in Amazon Sword? by
Anton
I've noticed that the new leaves of my Amazon Sword are coming in crippled
and curled. I've read that this is likely to a deficiency of calcium. I've
read that calcium rarely has to be added to the water as there is usually
enough in city tap water.
The plant load is fairly high with Java Fern,...

Macro nutrient/Fertilizer question by
Bruce Abrams
For those of you lazy souls (you know who you are) who can't be bothered
mixing their own, what are you using to dose macro nutrients? I have a
densely planted 36 gal. 2 watt/gal. tank (DIY CO2) in which I dose 1.5 mil
of Flouish twice a week. I seem to have had the best results with Red...

Need advice on a 200 gal tank by
Kenneth Ho
As I mentioned in another post, I am preparing to replace my 35 gal
tank by a 200 gal monster. Currenly, I have 2 X 150W HQI, Rena Heat
Cable, a 1/4 hp chiller and a external CO2 reactor which is good for
40 gal for my 35 gal. I need some advice before I finalize my shopping
list.
How much light...

Flourite question by
Kenneth Ho
Hi, I have a 160L and am preparing to a 900L new tank. I am currently
using ADA's amazonia as substrate (for 3 years now, and its still
going quite well), but since ADA's aqua soil alter water chemistry in
a very large degree, especially when new, I would like to try
something else. Flourite comes...

Crypts growing plants on leaves by
Vicki
I bought some crypts for my tank about a month ago and besides putting
out new leaves some of the older leaves have began sprouting new
plants. What I want to know is what to do with the new plants. I
want the main plant to bush out, not start new ones. If I cut off the
plantlets will it cause...

GH Test kit question by
Kenneth Ho
I keep getting this strange results from all of my GH test kits, which
I assume is due to extremely soft water, but I need confirmation from
you guys. I have FishDoc, Duplam, and Sera GH kits, all instructions
said that as soon as the test liquid turns green then it's done. Okay,
first drop, the...

newbie question by
Chris Palma
Hi.
I have a recently set up 75 gallon tank. I am getting back into the hobby
after a long lay off, and have been so busy learning about water chemistry
that I haven't paid much attention to plants at all. I have a bunch of
silk plants in my tank, and only two live plants -- a java fern and a...

Rewiring my Workhorse 5 ballast? by
Kristen
Hi, I've got a Workhorse 5 ballast driving a single 96 watt PC bulb.
It's turned out to be too much light for the tank, so I'd like to
drive the bulb at a little lower wattage. Unfortunately, I lost the
documentation that came with it, and I couldn't find the info I needed
on the Fulham website,...

New product coming-"Fishsitter" - monitor you're tank when your notthere by
m.dekort
Looking to see how many people might use this.
Going on vacation, on travel to work or even being away for 8hrs can be
a nerve wracking experience. Unless someone checks on your fish every
hour you may not have enough time to solve problems once they start.
By combining off the shelf products...
