But you just keep on... by
Wilmdale
What an unpleasant surprise when I went outside this morning. There was
a very 'nice' storm here in Colorado Springs last night and the drumming
of the rain was a great sleep aid. However when I went out side there
were leaves all over the place and as I checked on the small water lily
pads I...

fish and plant sources by
nortyler
Anyone have good mail order sources for plants and fish?
Are there any places or people interested in trading plants and fish?
I am currently stocking a new pond and I am looking for reasonably
priced resources. I got some reeds, lots of anacharis, and water
cabbage from my old pond. I will...

PONDS: Spawn frenzy by
George
I got up early this morning to a steady light rain and decided to check out
the 'porgs'. The pond is partially beneath a large oak tree, so half of
the pond doesn't get rained on like the half out in the open (duh). The
goldfish were in a spawning frenzy - ALL of them! I've got eggs and...

Memorial Day ruminations, kinda sorta involving a pond by
Gary Woods
Somewhat foolishly, I invited the in and out laws to my place following the
traditional cemetery tour; my two daughters, a couple of grandkids, and
people whose connections are too complicated for a brief post. But, a good
group, and they know Martha Stewart has disavowed all knowledge.
Senior...

Hello everyone. by
Justin
Hello everyone. It's been probably 2 years since I've been to
rec.ponds. I'm the one that updated the rec.ponds FAQ a couple of years
ago (http://www.geocities.com/justinm090/faq.html). I've been away for
a long time because I'm now in medical school. I have no idea what
brought me back to lurk at...

Big Koi with Odd Habit - question... by
gng
I have a 2500 gallon pond with about a dozen koi. One of them is around 5
years old, 15" to 18" long. He is constantly lifting his head above the
water as if grabbing bugs. I thought this was what he was doing, but
someone said that he most likely is going for air. I accepted that for a
minute...

Algae by
Quercus Robur
I am sure this has been posted many times, so please excuse me.
A while back I saw a post about using UV filters to remove algae. This
puzzles me. Algae thrives on UV from sunlight, so how do these filters
differ? How efficient are they? I have a 120 gal pond and am considering
a filter which...

Problem pond: Help with construction, please by
[email protected]
The previous owners of our house built an absolutely stunning example
of a horrible pond - it would lose around 40 gallons a day to leaks. We
decided to destroy and replace it, and we would have succeeded too -
had it not been for the fact that the bottom of the pond was built with
reinforced...
