Kerplonk..flush ...and so on by Larry
As soon as I see this; "Newsgroups: alt.religion.jehovahs-witn,alt.abuse,rec.ponds,alt.free.newsservers,alt.usenet.stalker" I flush everyone involved down the crapper. Now the posts I read are about pond issues. The reason why I joined. Be happy and do the same. Not as entertaining but what...

Baltimore, MD --- Anyone Turning Pumps Back On Yet? by Benign Vanilla
I am getting tempted. We had a day of close to 70's yesterday. Of course it's snowing today. This past year, I have done nothing for leave protection, as an experiment, so the pond is FULL of leaves. I was thinking of turning the pump on, and getting the BD and VF to start doing some clean up, but...

OT 'View' on Outlook Express filters messages nicely by Phyllis and Jim Hurley
If you use Outlook Express and get bugged by certain posts on the newsgroup, take a look at the 'view' option. You can tell it to 'hide' messages with certain words in the subject line or from certain persons. Benefit: the unwanted messages go away. Makes the NG more fun and you don't have...

Article on using wetlands to reduce algae in waterways. Interesting in that they did not plant the wetland but Mother Nature did, apparently. Article here http://www.newswise.com/articles/view/510285/ kathy :-)

Q: String Algae - What to do? by Phisherman
I can't recall the type, but there is a type of bale straw to put into the pond that grows microorganisms that eat the algae. Actually algae is a sign of a healthy pond, plus it oxygenates the water. You could partly shade the pond or grow lilies. Other plants can compete with the algae. We...

Water Quality by Peter Smith
I believe I have a serious water quality problem, and it is causing some of my fish to die, 14 in the last few days: here is the problem: I have a 3,500 gall pond, stocked with about 70 fish of varying sizes (3" to 26"). Almost all the fish are huddled at the bottom of the pond in one area, and...
