mink? by
lee
Any one any idea what is killing my gold fish in an outdoor pond.
The fish are being killed and left on the side of the pond. I have seen
otters in a stream 20metres from the pond. There are no visible signs of
otters entering the pond. I know there are wild mink in the area- could they
be killing...

Goldfish and Post hoc, ergo propter hoc

It could be that God created goldfish simply to make us grateful for
hamsters. Children like goldfish. They like taking them home, naming them,
and watching them eat. Depending on how well the child gets to know a fish

winter planning for spring by
[email protected]
Hi,
I put in my pond this past spring and now I need to make all that
changes I wanted to make this summer and ran out of time :)
1st thing is, because of budget, I had to go with a cheap home depot
special sump pump for the pond. I would like to upgrade. I think I
would prefer an external pump and...

free koi and gf in Houston area by
Ann in Houston
I have a friend in the Pasadena area that needs to empty her ponds. They
have taken to traveling a lot, and she isn't home enough to take good care
of them. She has offered them to me, but I don't have room in my pond. One
of the koi is well over a foot, I believe. They aren't likely to be...

Dispatching Fish by
Tom L. La Bron
George,
I have stayed out of this until now, but it you are really concerned and
want to get rid of a fish but are squimish about it, put water in a ziplock
bag put the fish in and pop in the freezer. If you handle it put the fish
in a bowl of water and take it to the kitchen or on your back...

New Pond - what now? by
[email protected]
Hi,
I've finally put in my pond liner and filled it with water. This is a
year after I started digging my 5000L / 1100 gallon pond. I've added
some water conditioner which I picked up from the local fish shop.
Now what? How long should I wait before adding fish and plants?
Han.

Horny Bunny? by

The rabbits have some sort of fascination with the pond cover. We had one

the cat watching him. I don't know if they like the cover because it's
slightly higher than the surroundings? If they like the small amount of...

Anyone using a shop vac with an external outlet

Any good models out there?

Arctic blast hits midwest by

Well, It's early Thursday morning here in Louisville, and we have six inches of
snow on the ground. The temperature is 17 F and dropping. My pond is going
through the first hard winter storm since I built it two years ago. I had to
thaw out the air hose this morning, and will have to watch it...

DIY external filter by

I plan to buy a new pump next year for my 2000 gallon pond. It has goldfish
in and one koi. I would like an external filter but as the pump will cost a
fortune and the pond only exists because I rescued the fish last year from
someone who was about to dump them in a river I don't want to spend...

free turtles in Houton area by

My brother has two red eared sliders that he would like to give away. Our
pond has no basking features or any way they could get up out of the water.
If anyone near the southeast suburban area would like them, drop me a line.

Help - Want to keep stream running in winter by
tg
I have about a 75 foot stream in my yard that is about 3 feet wide and 6-12
inches deep at the center. I am using a Sequence 5800gph pump in combination
with a Savio skimmer. I want to try to keep it running as long as possible
this winter. We have already had temps below 10 degrees (in Kentucky)...
