de-icers by
Lydia
Any opinions on de-icers? Which ones are good ones? Features that are must
haves? I see the Thermo-Pond De-Icer a lot
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=8557&N=62728+113087 .
Anyone have that one and a review of it?
Thanks much,
Lydia

Fall Feeding by
Newbie Bill
Hi all - I think we still have a way to go before we get to the no feed
time, but I am unsure when (if?) you should start feeding wheat germ, in
preparation for inactivity?
Thanxx

When to clean filter? by
Rob
I've got an Oase Filtoclear 800 for my small (400 gallon) pond. It has
a lever to backwash the filter and send the dirty water out a
different tube. I'm to turn the lever, then pull on a handle that
apparently compresses the foam elements in the filter, helping to
clean the filter.
The question: ...

FBI SADISM, PERVERSION, MENTAL TORTURE and BLATANT human rights violations by
bluegill phil
You should sell all the electronics and get rich.
I was a juror in a federal drug trial and all they had was open
cellphones on crackfreaks. They testified that they put up a pole
camera on a utility pole but had to take it down when all the crack
addicts started climbing the pole to steal the pole...

Anything should be sufficient. If the birds can see it then generally
they will stay away. Even some fishing line across the pond in a
crisscross pattern should...

Pond Vacuum Design by
bk
I believe that a home made pond vacuum was shown here about month ago.
It used a submerged pump a bag for collecting the debris. Now that I have an
extra pump I'd like to see how that was created to do the same.

Finding and fixing pond leak by
Nathan A. Smith
Hi pond experts...
I have a leak.... it isn't a big one, nor is it small. I have a pond
with surface area about 20 sq feet. I am losing about an 1-2" over 4-6
hours.
I have fish (a total of 10: 8 gf, 2 Koi, 15 rosy reds) with total volume
about 500 gallons -- all the fish are small (under...

Had a massive fishkill last night........ by
Roy
Woke up this morning and it looked like my pond was bombarded with
chuncks of styrofoam. From previous times, I knew exactly what
happened.....O2 stavation and a fish kill. The last 5 days have been
very dull and overcast, and the last three have been especailly hot.
Down to the pond I went,...

Copper gate valve OK? by
Rob
I just installed a copper gate valve and remembered I'd read here that
copper is a no-no in ponds because it can kill the fish.
What's the opinion he will one short length of copper (actually,
it's brass, that has copper in it) cause problems in my 400 gallon
pond? I wanted a PVC valve, but it...

turn off or not for winter by
SkyCatcher
Hi,
I seen conflicting info regarding what to do with your pump/filter in the
winter....
one source said to turn off the pump when the fish stop feeding and let the
water temp stratify thus keeping a 4oC layer (in U.K.) at the bottom rather
than ciurculating the water with the pump & chilling it...
