Fish as food. by Rob
This all makes me think: what is the feasibility of raising fish to eat in a 400 gallon Zone 9 pond? Not that I'm serious about it, just curious...

pond vacs by W Dale
Anyone have any experience with the Shop-Vac 16 Gallon, 6.5 HP Pump Series Shop Vac? It is $99.00 at Lowes and pumps the water out as you vacuum it in. MUCH cheaper than the Pond Vac at over $275.00+. My neighbor just got a Pond Vac from his wife.

How safe is black water? by John
No, really. With Jan's encouragement I built a skippy filter. Took a week to clear the green water, but it worked! Last week tore the back off the waterfall (http://artships.com/pond.php). Installed the skippy filter so that the tub's spout would run right over the waterfall. Works! Rebuilt the...

Question concerning pressure treated wood and ponds by Roy
You hear all kinds of things good and bad concerning the use of pressure treated wood in and around fish ponds. Of all the state parks and recreation areas I have been to or sen I don;t think there is one that does not use pressure treated lumber to build piers, walkways and such arond the water....

Should I worry when my pond starts getting fuzzy from string algae?? by Mark and Kim Smith
Or is it just a natural part of it all. A couple of the lillies are real fuzzy, I'd hate to see anything happen to them. Looks, I'm not worried about. By the falls, I just scoop the stuff out occasionally. TIA

Strange happening this morning. by Roy
I had taken "Wally" the artifical gator up to the shop for a good cleaning and paint touch up, and also the smaller counterparts of his out of the pond for touch up etc. I am presently experimenting with a floating type fountain (home brew) powered by a gas pump until I get the bugs and design...

Advice needed for pond design by DK
I'm planning to build a water garden-cum-fish pond in my garden and am looking for a simple yet effective design (not the sophisticated koi pond type) to produce optimum results where pump, waterfall & filtration are concerned. My pond is going to be about 18ft x 30ft & 1-3ft deep. I've gone to...

new gravel bog - question by Ann in Houston
Hope y'all don't mind, I've posted the same basic content under a couple of different threads, in hopes of increasing my chanes of getting an answer. We finally built a gravel bog to filter the pond. We just finished it, yesterday. It's visibly making a difference, but it has a lot of catch-up to...

Pond Dye dilema ----Blue or black that is the question! by Roy
Since my ponds dyed water got pretty well diluted from Ivan when it flooded over the spillway, I intend to redye it come late winter or early spring, before the water and outside temps get to the point of algae starting to grow. I really think the blue dye I used reduced a lot of my algae bloom...

Underwater Camera by ClaudCar
Tell us more about this underwater camera. Who, what, where and most importantly HOW? Random shots, x/hour, motion activated? And as autumn is descending on So. Cal which means that overnight temps are going to be down to the 50's, how can I still hear my pond in my bedroom...

Eavestrough heating cable by Bill Stock
I've seen a few of you using Eavestrough deicing cable to warm/de-ice your pond. I gather this stuff does not get warm enough to melt the liner? Does it leak current into the water? I did some measuring today and I only seem to have 24" of depth, so I'm a little concerned that the bubbler won't do...
