Where did the frog come from? by
Claudia
I am a suburbanish newbie ponder. The closest "wild" water is 4 blocks away
over major streets. WHERE did the frog staring at me - as in eye level- on
my screen door come from tonight? And then when I didn't let him in the
house, but shut the slider - WHERE did he go to? No frog sounds,...

Damned pump finally died.. by
Gareee©
Our Gargoyle pump finally died.
Would is be better to wait for spring sales, or does anyone know who has
sales in the fall?
I want to replace that pump, and also get a above ground pump/uv filter
system as well.
We're already getting low 50s night temperatures here in NC...

A fish story by
Phyllis
We have two very small ponds that are connected by a spillway. One of our
fish went missing a few weeks ago. He is white with some dots and about four
years old with a pretty plumey tail. I was sure something had taken him and
we ordered netting and put it over the ponds. Today I was cleaning...

Endless questions.. by
Rob
No pix yet. Digi camera died recently. Soon though.
Just put in first plants. Hyacinth (makes me think of Jim Morrison)
and something called Thalia geniculata. Thalia tall & elegant. My
wife wants watercress but I cant find it here in San Francisco. Maybe
at the health food store.
Q's:

Really silly goldfish question by
Chakoteya
Derek Broughton Wrote:
The answer, though, is the typical "it depends". I've seen them start
to
change in weeks, and others that didn't change for a year - typically
around 5cm. It can be really quite spectacular as a fish develops a
small
hint of gold on his back, then as the days go...

Really silly goldfish question by
Chakoteya
but it's as good a way as any to say hi!!
We put in this enormous (8000l) pond last summer, and the fish really
like it. So much that last month we spotted 6 black young fish. We
weren't trying to breed but well, you know goldfish, the martini's of
the pond world (anytime, anyplace, anywhere.)
So...

Pump suggestions for fountain by
Roy
I have a swimming pool filter that is driving me crazy to come up with
something to make out of it. I finally decided to use it as a base
for a floating / submerged support for a fountain in the middle of my
pond.
Plan is to use a submersible pump, mounted to a plate attached on top
of this large...

Well my pond is now full and it survived Ivan by
Roy
Its actually more than full as the stream came up so high it was
higher than my ponds spillway and it flooded into the pond. Water was
within 3 inches of going over my enclosure and I was sweating it for
awhile. Its starting to recede now so thats a relief. All its going to
cost me is a new pump...

Getting ready for my fisrt winter with a pond by
Nathan A. Smith
Hi,
I just have a few questions for the group concerning winterizing:
1. To run the waterfall or to not run the waterfall...
Pros: ensures a hole is available for stuff to get out if pond freezes...
actually, waterflow should reduce chances of pond freezing
Looks pretty
Water tempature should be...

IRONITE?? by
W. Dale
Ok. Will somebody tell me what is up with the controversy over
Ironite? In this ng and from some of our local ponders, Ironite used in
moderation is said to do wonders for WH. Now I am seeing all kinds of
very negative and cautionary site discussing the horrors of Ironite.
And, I see there is a...
