Pipe size? by Grumpy
How much difference will there be between 2 and 3 inch pipe? I'm trying to do 3 inch flexible pvc pipe all through out. One problem I am for seeing is that one of the filter's I'm planning to use only has 1 ½ inch ports (aqua ultima II). Take a look at the bottom of the page of my schematic so far....

Sick goldfish, advice requested by Heather M. Fieldhouse
This has not been a good pond year for me. After five years of having no problems at all, we had something (probably a raccoon) get in the pond and clean out half the fish, including my oldest fish (about 10 years) that I'd had since he was a little feeder fish living in a 3-gallon tank in my...

Wondering why my goldfish died by Barb
We have a pond in our backyard in Tennessee. We have had it for four years. We had twenty goldfish and 1 catfish in it. It had become very green with algae so we decided to clean it. We bought a container to put our fish in while we cleaned it. We put the fish, their current pond water, and...

Fire Ants and ponds by Roy
I was wrong on the name...it is NOT Prowel, but a product called ENFORCER....works almost imediately. If you dampen the area prior to putting out this dust, it will not blow around and its just as effective. I just went outside to the wifes half barrel garden and noticed the liner was a bit...

Veggie Filter, pond, green and brown algae by Nathan A. Smith
Hi, I have taken the plunge and added a veggie filter/biological filter. The setup is like this: a preformed pond (6 ft long 3 ft wide (average) and about 15" deep)) a storage box sitting in the middle of preformed pond - box has water pumped into from my skimmer, into a empty space created by a...

Skimmers by Newbie Bill
Well, my addiction continues. As water garden stuff seems to be going on sale/close-out I keep toying with the idea of starting a new pond on a major budget. Lay the liner over the slightly built up edge, pump into home made filter and viola! cheap pond. Then I would add decorative edging,...

sand in ponds? by DS
Hi Sand (builders sand i think) has just got washed into our wild life pond that has newts and frogs. There is a bit of 'froth' on the top of the water and we can see some sand at the bottom of the pond. Will it hurt the pond or the wildlife? Thanks D

Wondering why my goldfish died by Barb
We have a 1,000 gallon backyard pond which contained 20 goldfish and 1 catfish. It had become very green with algae and was getting worse. We decided to clean it. We bought a 100 gallon container to hold the fish while we cleaned the pond. Once the fish were in the holding container, we emptied...
