*Ponder tastes 105 year-old beer*
'The first thing I noticed was the very strong smell of barley straw,
and hops'
July 12, 2004 - A rec. ponder who recovered a 105-year-old bottle of
beer from a the bottom of his pond didn't realize it might be worth
$1,600 before he went ahead and drank it.
The...

WH Seperation by
Newbie Bill
Small Matter - I think I have mastered the BV method for planting WH. Now I
need some minor advice on detaching the tubes that develope from the mother
to the new plant. I have been just pinching it off from both ends. The new
plant often tends to list a bit as apparently the tube was...

Pond Lighting by
2pods
Our first pond is a raised patio job
www.katzsisters.com , and I'm wondering how to light it ?
Most of the pool lights have "indoor" transformers, when I'd prefer an
outdoor version. Also because the pond is so small, I'd obviously prefer
something to match.
Any suggestions ?

If You Build it... by
Benign Vanilla
The liner I traded for a beer has been sitting in the yard doing nothing, so
we decided to sink it. We started digging a couple weeks back and found that
getting the hole perfect for the rigid liner was difficult. So we filled it
partially with water to check level and to let it "sit in" a bit. I...

Koi Flatulence Captured in Photo
Jeff Daro, reporter rec. Ponders Gazette
July. 17, 2004 — For the first time, rec. ponders have both witnessed
and photographed a Koi gas bubble, suggesting that flatulence is just as
common for pond inhabitants as it is for humans and many other

Pond pump Help by
ian.birtles
Can anyone suggest a good pond pump powerful enough to suck up the usual
rubbish from the bottom and run a waterfall for a pond 12ftx12ftx3ft and a
good filtration system that isn't going to cost the earth in electricity
bills.

converting gunite pool into pond by
[email protected]
We live in AZ. We have a 15,000 gallon gunite pool we would like to
convert into a pond. We are not necessarily interested in special
fish, but more in getting rid of the pool while retaining the
structure so the next owners could redo, with money and work, into a
pool again. We would also like...

Pond is looking good but! by
Rick
I have my 1200 gallon pond up and running for two months now. Everything is
falling into place. The water cleared up very nicely, after I increased my
Bio-filter with some lava rock. (Some advice I got from another group) It
is now crystal clear and I can see the bottom and my three small Koi...

Greetings from a newbie! by
AngieB
I've been lurking and reading for a little over a month now. My husband,
Randy and I decided over Memorial Day weekend to put in a pond -- we just
kinda jumped in a did it! It's small, just a 60 gallon pre-formed liner, but
we like it. My dad had the brilliant idea to put fish in it without...

Help again!! by
pixi
Is there a pond club in West Virginia, preferrably in the Potomac Highlands?
My pond is still leaking (worse than before) around the skimmer. And I know
it is where the liner is attached to the skimmer.
If there is a pond club maybe I can pay someone to reattach the liner
properly.
At this...

Whew!!! Close call. by
George
Hi guys and gals. Well, the power went off here two days ago during a ferocius
storm which knocked out power to 100,000 homes and businesses in the Louisville
area. My power just came on just a while ago today. I was beginning to have
real concerns about my fish. When the power went off, of...

'Ripplin Waters' Pond redone New Pictures by
Sue Walsh
Just wanted to post that I have redone my pond and have posted the new
pictures at the website below. We have done away with the original
waterfall and 22' stream, which here in Florida was just one vast
string algae attractor and added a waterfall at the edge of the
original pond. We finally...

OK here is the plan for water change, I think? by
Webfoot
I need to clean my filter and clean the bottom of my pond. After many
beers I came up with a plan. I would like to know if this would work
or do I need more beer to come up with another plan.
1.) I plan on filling a laundry bag with my bio material (scrubbies,
hair curlers, bowling balls...

How to make turtle pond??? HELP! by
Ka30P
I would take the surviving two back to the pet store asap. Or call a vet and
ask if you have a turtle rehabber in your area and turn them over to the
rehabber.
Then I would do a lot of research before trying this again.
Turtles need extensive filtering to be kept inside along with heat lamps and...
