Yellow hyacinth update by
Jim and Phyllis Hurley
I still have not brought the water test kit home, but still have some data
about our yellow hyacinths.
The iron has changed the yellowing of the wh in the 4x8 berm vf. They are
clearly moving from yellow to dark green. Those hyacinth have long roots.
The wh in the pond (short roots...koi) are...

Water lily problem - brown leaves by
Gabriel
I wonder if anyone on this group can provide some advice.
I have a newish pond - it's been filled for about two months. The
water lilies I have bought have suffered from major discolouration of
the leaves within a week or so of putting them into the pond.
Basically the leaves start going brown in...

Lily Pads taking over by
hammr
Hello Group,
I live in NY on a small man-made lake(made in the 40's) that is not
more than 8 feet deep at the deepest point with an island in the
middle. Anyway, as the subject says, the Lily Pads are taking over. 30
years ago one could swim around it. 20 yrs ago we could boat aroundit
.. Now it...

Veggie filter + what? to get clear water by
Mark Bannister
Our new pond (taking forever to get finished) will have a upflow veggie
filter with about 12% more surface area than the pond's.
What other filters should be put in?
Pond is 700+ US gallons. Pump is overkill (Sequence 750 series
4200SEQ12, 2300 GPH) but we will be adding other water features in...

New Pond Pictures by
Sue Walsh
Just wanted to post that I have redone my pond and have posted the new
pictures at the website below. We have done away with the original
waterfall and 22' stream, which here in Florida was just one vast
string algae attractor and added a waterfall at the edge of the
original pond. We finally...

Pump Calculations by
LittleScooby
Can someone point me to a link that describes pump performance a little
better?
There is a chart, at the bottom of this page:
http://tinyurl.com/4kxjl
But, what I don't understand is, how do you determine the flow rate in
GPH if when using the pump listed, the maxium HT. of a water feature
can...

Not anchor worm by
Barbara2245
Today I emptied and cleaned the pond to find a fish that had something
attacheded at the anal area. When I looked at the fish after netting
every one else it looks like his intestines are hanging out. It is
whitish with a red vein running thru. So I guess I will have to
euthanize it. Any other...

frogs in winter by
Yeass
I have a small pond. Last fall it seems that all my frogs stayed in the pond.
Needless to say they all died and I found them all on the bottom of the pond
this spring. How do I prevent this from happening again this winter. I live in
NJ.
Also I bought 2 small cat fish last year. This year they...

Water from air conditioner? by
AngieB
It's hot and the window A/C is running constantly. I can collect a 5-gallon
bucket of water dripping from the condenser about every other day. Would
this water be safe to use to top off the pond? It's clear, clean-looking
water, but I didn't know what might be in there that you can't see or...

Pickeral Rush by
Newbie Bill
I have 2 Pickeral Rush in my pond. They seem to be growing well but have
virtually no flowers. They develope the little corn cob thing - then just a
few tiny maybe 1/8 inch purple 'flower leaves' will emerge - not even enough
to fall off - then its done - goes to brown. The could be root...

Trickle down veggie filter ? by
GrannyGrump
I am disabled, and can't clean filters easily, so I am planning on
making a veggie filter from a large water trough (Tractor Supply).
Planning on rocking this in, with a roof, so that it looks like a
wishing well...
This trough has an opening at the bottom for draining water.
I am planning on...
