Quic-Crete in ponds? by G-Hoch
A couple of years ago I made a base for a water lily spitter out of quick-crete but I heard that you shouldn't put quik-crete in a pond. What is the difinitive, once and for all answer to this question. I say where someone was making an underwater light with quickcrete and no one questioned. P.S....

Can't access a floating water lily tuber, will it attach by itself by Raphaella
I did a stupid thing: there is a big 3 acre-ish pond by my house. Yesterday I went to Lowes and got 3 water lilies, tied them each to a big stone and tossed the 3 packages into the pond hoping they will grow. But the lily broke away from the confinement and float up in the middle of the pond. ...

Water Amaryllis? What is this plant...??? by ~ Windsong ~
I was given a tropical pond plant by a friend who got it from a friend who go it.... we don't know what is! I don't see it on the plant websites or pond magazines. It resembles a large Amaryllis (has a bulb) but has larger flowers and more per head - otherwise you can mistake it for that plant. ...

pond construction questions. by DAN
Hello all, I have a few questions and hope someone might be able to help. I have a Beckett pump, forgot the rating, but its outlet is 1.5 inch. I've read that you need to push the water through 3 inch pipes. So if I use adapters I can go from 1.5 to 3 inch. Would this be ok for the pump, would...

Any suggestions on DIY bottom drain dome? by desertpond
I've got the tetra 2" retrofit bottom drain installed now but it's not really cutting it. I'm going to replace it with a 4" drain but want to save some cash. Any suggestions on what item I can use for the dome? One idea I guess would be to use a black, round trash can lid, but I doubt it'll...

Operation: lady bullfrog by Ka30P
Last summer a lady bullfrog snuck into the frog bog. I fear she ate up all the tree frogs I'd adopted as eggs from jj's ponds. I spotted her as Fall came on. We had a wonky winter and some real awful weather and I was sure that she couldn't have survived as I would have sworn the frog bog had...

Simple 'Skeeter Control? by Daniel Phillips
Hi all, I filled up the half barrel with water, placed a water lilly inside, some oxygenator plants, and the Obedient Plant is standing by until I get the right bricks. In order to not encourage disease carrying mosquitos, I've read and heard of a number of ways to do this. Fish, pumps,...
