Cracks in new concrete pond. by
Robert
I have just hired someone to install a pond/waterfall feature. They
used a liner (unsure of thickness) and the concrete was poured
yesterday (it looks like a min. of 3" thick), reinforced with chicken
wire. I noticed this morning that 3-4 (or more)cracks have formed.
Should I be concerned about...

Is my snail dead? by
G-Hoch
I was netting debris from my pond, and I scooped up a large, almost
golfball sized snail. I picked it up to return but when I did, a hard
membrane fell off of the opening and the body of the snail fell out,
it was only about 3/4 of an inch long. And in the shell there were
what looked like eggs. ...

Hello Everyone by
LeeAnne
It's that time of year again, when thoughts turn to ponds being unfrozen and
useable. Well, for me anyway w/a small one here near Boston.
It's been a while since I've posted but you guys/gals have always been a
wealth of info!
I'm thinking of expanding, I've got a shallow bird-pool going on...

Water Celery Question by
stricks760
Hi -
My water celery sits amongst the rocks of my waterfall. It grew long shoots
and bloomed with little white flowers - looked great.
Now the flower stalks are looking a little long in the tooth. Should I cut
it back, or just leave it alone?
Thanks!

Canine Yard Patrol Reporting in for Spring Season by
BenignVanilla
We have resumed daily missions patrolling the perimeter. Some east african
bull geese have been making low level passes daily, but several short bursts
of our sonic weapons have steered them clear of the pond. We developed a new
mission this week. When the commander leaves the bunker we run a...

Skimmer for pond with variable water level by
Doctor John
We have a fairly large pond - about 8000 gallons, 4 1/2 ft at deepest point.
I'd like to use a skimmer, but we are in a drought here in Colorado, and the
water level varies by as much as a foot (not enough well water to top it).
Any ideas on skimmer which works over such a height variation? I may...

BZT by
Bill C.
Does anyone know if you can still order the Ponders Special 8 oz pack of
Aquaculture BZT ? I checked the website and it only comes in 3.5 oz jars
for $19.95. I think I paid about $35.00 for the last 8oz pack That I
purchased.
Thanks

Source for pond plants in Memphis? by
tim chandler
Does anyone know of a good source for pond plants in or near Memphis, TN?
The Home Depot on Poplar this year does not seem to be carrying any!
The fish are happy with temps in the 70s but the pond is in full sun now
since we removed several trees, so we need plants plants and more...

Using big thick plastic bag (5'x3') as liner for Bog pond? by
John
I am thinking about creating a bog pond, about 300 gallons, (maybe
just mosquito fish), lots of plants, Max about 9'' deep, wants to
attract wide animal or bird.
To save some money, I have a lot of very thick , big plastic bag
(5'x3'), can I use them as regular liner (them looks very tough)?...

Swimming pond by
Nesdon
I manage a summer camp facility that has a small swimming pond 120' X
240', with a maximum depth of about 10 ft. I calculate this to be
about 5 acre feet or about a million and a half gallons. We are
located in the San Bernardino Mountains, at about 6000 ft. elevation.
We have snow for about 4 or...

Advise on submerged rocks - fish hide outs. by
A.N.Other
I am thinking of adding some fairly large rocks in a "pile" to provide my
fish with some hide outs.
I have had problems with Great Blue herons and nothing I have done to date
seems to work.
I am reluctant to put the rocks in direct contact with the liner, would it
be Ok to put a layer of padding...

Thanks guys - my pond is running! by
Josh
There is still SOOO much to do, but the hardest part is over, she's
running!
I've added some dechlorinator and once the water warms up (that bottom
drain & skimmer weir were COLD putting in) I'll get some little
goldfish to start with. I'd like to get some plants then too, water
lettuce and water...

Gin Clear Already by
BenignVanilla
Shareholders Pond has gone through 2, maybe 3 algae blooms that I am aware
of. We've had pea soup, but we're now gin clear to the bottom. That is of
course until I get in there and pull out some leaves, stirring up the muck.
The fish are happy, and have been fed a few times. I am not feeding...

haven't waited long enough for it to appear.

New To Ponds, Would Appreciate Some Advice by
WDiamond
Hi folks,
After many years of dreaming, I've decided to add a small fish pond to
my backyard. I'm not that limited on space, but don't want to take up
to much room with the pond. I'm thinking Koi are out, given some of
the reading I've done about size/gallons they require.
I would really...

Glue for PVC by
Grubber
I have some of the flexible black pvc hose as seen here about halfway down
(not the Laguna stuff):
http://www.azponds.com/hose.htm
Does this use regular pvc glue with the purple primer? Since this says you
can use regular PVC fittings, that was my assumption, but I thought I'd make
sure before...

New Pond Cleaning Idea? by
BenignVanilla
Not sure if this is an original idea or not, but I am pretty impressed with
results, so I thought I would post it. I decided not to net my pond last
fall so I could see how bad it would get, and to see how bad the cleaning
would be. I have TONS of leaves in the pond, as would be expected....

I got my liner in. I got my pump. Its a Sequence External Self Priming
