EPDM and rubber cement? by
Lee B.
I need to secure the folds of a EPDM liner. This is NOT a matter of joining
two pieces, just eliminating a flap. Can rubber cement be used instead of
that expensive joining tape? If I had it all to do over, I would have
scrapped that new piece of EPDM in favor of a factory-made, drop-in...

Cold water plants by
John Bachman
We are in zone 5. My pond is up and running but gets uglier every
day. Algae is building. The water temperature is 50 F and the fish
are moving about regularly.
With no plants there seems to be no hope of controlling algae. Are
there any plants that will grow and remove nutrients while the...

Tiger barb behavior? by
Josh Mills
I have 8 tiger barbs that I bought about 2 months ago. They were very
small when I got them, their body size was about 3/4" or less. They are
growing very fast as they are now about 1 1/2" to 1 3/4". Sometimes they
will break up into groups and lock lips, also their black turns to a
strange green...

Pump enclosure ideas? by
ttalbls
I have a Sequence external pump that is going to be below ground level.
There is a Sequence priming pot on the intake side and I have rotated the
disharge so it exits parallel to the gound. A couple of questions:
What type of boxes or enclosures are people using?
Should the priming pot be inside...

potting lilies and marginals by
pete
I need to divide my water lilies, and also need to pot a half-dozen
marginal plants that I ordered from a mail-order firm. Do I need to use the
specialized "aquatic planting soil", or will regular top soil - the kind you
can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot - work just as well?

Algae, another for K30's tibs by
~ jan JJsPond.us
Some of you might hav noticed my sig has changed, with the question
regarding water quality? Well, guess what? If you've got a suspended algae
problem, especially with low fish load, high plant load, you'd better check
your pH.
Since cleaning out, the lilypond has no fish, the frogs haven't...

Loud "spitter" by
k conover
Okay, I have two openings on the water filter in my pond--one is attached to
the tubing that pumps water over my mini (3" max?) waterfall, and the other
was just shooting water out in the pond. So I go to Home Depot and get a
kind of "spitter" that shoots water up in three beautiful streams that...

dealing with soft (caving in) edges of a pond by
bjt
My pond is about 8' by 20' and up to 5' deep, but it suffers from soft
edges.
The soil is very loose and soft and so my edges keep crumbling. This makes
putting edging stone around the pond a real challenge.
Any suggestions?
I've thought about putting a ring of concrete around the edge of the...

How do you add a air manifold and tap to a 55 gal drum (plastic) ?
Pictures ?
I made a tap 2 different ways. The first way is kind of crummy and doesn't
as well as I hoped (but good enough)

first 2 plants by

At Seattle's annual Flower & Garden show I bought the very first 2 plants
for my water garden. One striped variagated canna and one pickerel rush.
They both had a couple inches of green sprout coming out of the wood chips
they were packed in. So I put them each in a pot of their own in...
