any reason to avoid folding pond liner under waterfall? by
xanadudldu
I am trying to finish a long postponed water garden and I am wondering
if there are risks to laying stone directly on the folds in the liner
at the waterfall. I want to avoid cutting the liner in case I need to
redesign and widen the waterfall. The stones will rest on a 2x8
cinderblock platform...

Pond gifts, Whatya get for Xmas? by
~ jan JJsPond.us
Any interesting pond or garden gifts, or pond/garden related, received this
year?
My mother gave me a wind chime w/tubes ~4 feet long. The tones sound just
like church bells. DH is gonna hang them from the peak of the beam that
extends out over our deck. :o)

Cold question by
Gabrielle
I have a young friend who just bought a house with a small pond -- he
ignored it at first and then got porged. I give him some rosy reds and
he bought a dozen feeder GF. Now he's worried about their winter
comfort. We're in southern Arizona so they won't get too cold, but he's
still...

Fish near surface - OK?? by
question
Help please!
Just noticed my fish are near the surface of the pond (12 foot by 8 x 2 fot
deep) - I have the pumprunning 24/7 and have a small waterfall for aeration.
The fish are not gasping - seem perfectly OK, but normally I'd expect them
to be at the bottom when it's cold (last night it was...

Frogs Dying in Skimmer by
Sue Walsh
I have a Savio Skimmer and this fall we have lost 3 frogs to being
chewed up in the pump after entering the skimmer. They get over the
top of the divider from the basket side into the pump side and are
pulled in and chopped up. It's a nightmare having to remove
them(still alive)and crush them...

people we are missing by
Ka30P
Derek moved to the east coast of Canada.
I seem to remember that there would be
no room for a pond or it was not a good
area for a pond. I guess he has the great
salt water pond outside his door.

Steve Shapson
I have a pond 25x25 feet by 2 feet depth. A large stream 40 feet long with
a 4 foot height flows into it. How do I figure out what size underwater
pump I will need to make the stream flow fast?
Are there site which help with this math?

Are pine needles poison to fish? by
Jim Bunton
I have a friend who has a large pond. He would like to sink several
Christmas trees in the pond for structure. The question came up would
the fish nibble the needles and if so are they toxic? Any info would
be a great help.
Thank You Jim Bunton

Heron/Egret by
Bob in PA
Yesterday I heard the dogs barking, so I ignored them. A couple of
seconds later, my brother tells me to hurry up and come down to the living
room. I get there in time to see a big shadow and flapping wings of a
heron/egret. Later my dad saw him/her sitting on the roof of the neighbors
house.
I...

Suitable fish for outdoor pond (62-71 degrees) by
Han Chung
Hi,
Apart from Koi and Goldfish, what other fish can I keep in an outdoor
pond that can handle the water temperatures at least 9 months of the
year?
I live in Sydney, and in summer, the water temperature is typically
~71 degrees. In winter, the water temperature is ~62 degrees. The
pond I am...

I did get a few good photos and would like to post them to a

help me ID the frogs, but there are SOOOOO many...

Pond Vaccums??? by
GoldLexus
Do pond vaccums really work? We have a lot of muck at the bottom of our
pond. Last year, we drained the pond and tried to power wash stuff out but
it really didn't clean it up. You can see the rocks at the bottom but you
also see alot of dirt which also gets the water really merky when trying...

Kool Koi Kandle holder by

Recently my SO and I found these Koi lanterns in a catalogue that was sent
to us. So we ordered four, two for us and two as gifts. Then we had the
bright idea of installing small halogen lights in them instead of candles
and using them as path lights at night. I built a sample and tried it...
