pond de-icer corrosion by
John M. Darnielle
I've noticed that the aluminum base to my 1250 watt "Ice Chaser" by Farm
Innovators (which is identical to the Beckett "pond De-icer") is corroding.
I do maintain .06 percent salt level, my compromise on the "How much salt"
debate. This probably causes the corrosion. My question is- is this bad...

Video Monitoring of Pond? by
SueAndHerZoo
My husband asked what I wanted for Christmas this year, and I gave him one
heck of a challenge.... I told him I'd like to be able to watch my pond from
inside the house when I can't be out there! Anyone with equipment
recommendations, helpful hints, past experience, etc. - I'd really
appreciate...

Cats terrorise my fish! by
Scooby Don't
I've recently moved into my new house which has a lovely little pond i
the garden - home to 3 goldfish.
The water was so murky that you couldn't see the fish, so I called
guy from a local aquarium company who came out to clean the pond an
install a saftey grating (I have a 2 year old child). He...

Travelling Frogs? by
Toad
I've had numerous frogs take up residence in my small pond for a few weeks at a
time, and I've often wondered where they come from, and where do they go from
here? I found a rather large, striped one in the pond today, that wasn't there
last week. In fact, there have been no frogs in my pond for...

Horror Story - Paint in Pond by
Lynn Strickland
My pond & waterfall, just "finished" in September are by my patio. It
looked so fantastic, my patio needed to be repainted. I hired a
professional painter, with only one instruction: make sure you cover the
pond.
Yada yada yada -- I come home from work and the pond is milky white, my Koi
are...

My concrete pond has developed cracks from a tree that has been
eradicated about 8 months ago. I want to seal the cracks, but the
whole task seems overwhelming.

OT for the Ladies by
KenCo
Thought you ladies would appreciate this one....
One day, three men were hiking and unexpectedly came upon a large
raging, violent river. They needed to get to the other side, but had no
idea of how to do so. The first man prayed to God, saying, "Please God,
give me the strength to cross this...

Fertilizer by
Patrick O'Connor
This is the first time I have looked at rec.ponds, so my question is
probably well chewed already. I need recommendations about fertilizer
for Louisiana irises grown in water. I am a hybridizer and planning
to start a mail order business one day. I grow my irises in water in
half barrels in...

Multitude of Posts by
Bob in PA
Is anyone else here getting doubles of posts? Or something else like this:
Post A
Post B
Post C
Post B repeats
Post A repeats
This is really weird, and it's only happening in this group. I guess if I'm
the only one, I'll blame t on El Niño/La Niña/Northern lights/full moon/etc.

over bite by
tdreeves
Hi, just a fun thing I seen this morning on the today show channel 12. A
restaurant owner has a fish tank in his restaurant. One day one of his
favorite fish stopped eating due to a server over bite. One of the clients
of the restaurant happened to be a dentist. The reatraunt owner asked...

Pond nets buried under 9" of snow! by
Robyn Rhudy
Well, I should have taken the nets off last weekend! Now, there's 9" of
snow and I get my first real day off work in like 6 months! Sure, I've
had a few days when I was dying and a few "holidays" where I cleaned the
house and did work but today I get to play on the internet on a slow
connection...

String Algae by
Dave M.
We put our pond in this summer, about 4500 gallons, didn't get it going
until mid August. 17 small goldfish, a few plants, all seem to be doing well
and water temp is down to about 45 so we're not feeding the fish anymore.
While it was hot this summer, water stayed clear and no issues, now that...

Gravel, What Size? by
William Oertell
The gravel installed in my pond is a bit on the large size, ranging in size
from about 1/4 inch to maybe two inches. Is this okay or should it be finer
than that? Most of the gravel (if you can call it that) is much larger than
an inch.
