Half dead? Oranda Question by
ponder
It does sound as if he was stuck somewhere. When GF are injured, they will
scab like you or I, this is what that black is. Every part of a GF that is
injured will turn black. Now babies can be black and then they will turn
orange or whatever color. You need to keep him in very clean, but...

Pump stand by
Mogweed
I know that you should stand the pump on something to (hopefully) keep it
out of the silt and the most common thing for this purpose seems to be
bricks. Well, I haven't got any bricks to hand but I have got a couple of
breezeblocks; are these safe to use? Are there any chemicals that could
leech...

Fall Visitors by
Bonnie
The pumps in my ponds are turned off but I decided to keep
the trickle tower running for as long as possible. I
noticed quite a bit of activity at the trickle tower and
gave it a closer look. The cedar wax wings are back!
Looked up in the nearby tree and it was covered with them.
Hope they decide...

My water hyacinths and other plant (not sure what it's called) were
thriving up until a few days ago now I'm noticing the leaves are turning
bright yellow and one is even bown. I know they have enough water (duh)
but what else could be wrong? They were growing fast so I don't think
it's the light.....

Pump in or Pump out? by
Szpond
We live in Michigan (zone 5). Someone said to leave our pump in over the
winter so that the seals don't dry out. Is it okay to leave the pump in the
bottom of the pond (not running) for the winter, or shall we pull it and put in
dry storage? Thanks, Cathy
