weed control by
mjb
Hi all,
We run Radio Control Sailboats on a pond that is probably about a couple
acres in size here in NY. This year we had a very bad weed problem. They
start about 5 feet out from shore and don't stop until about 15 feet out
from shore. The problem is that sailboats have a lead keel that...

Pond Skimmer Question by
Charles
Does anyone know of plans or ideas for a portable, temporary pond
skimmer? A water garden establishment near me needs something to
clear the surface of their ponds, I told them I would look into
getting something.
the problem right now is DOC and ash from the

Turtles and Frogs - mother nature is cool by
Chad
I happened to catch a show featuring amazing animals and they featured
the North American Painted Turtle and a frog that I cannot remember its
species. Anyway, they made the amazing animal list because of how they
hibernate. The painted turtle (especially babies) usually hibernate in
frozen ice. ...

Green stuff by
Bob Knight
This is the first year we have had a pond and it's really a learning
experience up to now. We put a small water fall in the middle of the pond,
using a number of garden rocks and directing the water from the (out of
water filter). There are 10 goldfish who seem to be doing just fine, however
one...

PP Treatment by
Jim Humphries
The pond, the pictures and the detailed description of PP treatment are very
much appreciated. While I hope never to need to use PP, I feel much better
about it now.

A New Use for String Algae by
BenignVanilla
So I got busy with life and neglected the pond for about a month. The
result? The fish are getting huge. The frogs outnumber the fish like 10 to
1. The plants are growing like crazy. I also had a ton of string algae,
which turned out to be great. In removing the algae, I found lots of pine
needles...

POND DEICER by

Has anyone ever used the Tetra 24 watt pond deicer? I live in Philadelphia,

element enough?

Evaporation rate guesses by
bob carwell
Could somebody at least give me some very, VERY rough guesses as to on
average how much water I might have to replace due to evaporation for
a pond. I have seen threads and understand it is very complex with
all sorts of equations, variables of relative humidity, amount of
splashing, surface area,...

Overwintering Hyacinth? by
~ jan JJsPond.us
Hi I brought some of hyacinth's in for winter, what do I need to make
sure they have adequate nutrients? They have plenty of light, I'm just
worried not enough food..
Mike
That is probably why it is suggested to put their roots in dirt? At least
that is what worked for me the one year. They...

Green film on the rocks. by
Bob Knight
This is our first year having a pond and it has been a learning experience.
One problem we may be having is this dark green film on the rocks where the
waterfall happens. We have 10 goldfish in the pond and they seem to be doing
fine, but I wonder if this green stuff is normal.
What is happening...

If you buy fish from feeder tanks, make sure you treat them for parasites
before putting them into your pond. I was so excited last week to find baby koi
in the feeder fish tank and so i bought some. They infected my 2 ponds and my
nieces pond with ANCHOR WORMS and ICH! The good news is, the pet...
