SMART FISH ??? by
~glen~
I have kept Koi fish for a number of years they live in three
interconnected ponds via 8 inch pipes...Never thought about how a fish
thinks or its reasoning capacity.
About a week ago someone's pet ferret decided to take up residence under
my back porch. He caught one of my larger Koi's

Pond chemicals by
TomH
What chemicals do you use for raising/lowering and buffering
the PH in the pond. Do you buy the stuff sold in the shops for
that purpose or are there cheaper equivalent products that you
can use?

We just finished our new waterfalls using Great Stuff expanding foam to seal
the cracks, it worked great, thanks to everyone in the group for the helpful
advice. Now my question, we are looking for a way to diffuse the incoming
water supply for the falls, it is fed by a 2 inch return line...

String algai in hose? by
Carl Beyer
I have clear hose from my pumps, and going from my fludized sand filter
to my UV to my gravel filter, I noticed some algae growing in the hose.
Looks like string algai.
I didn't think it would survive in a 350GPH flow...
Any thoughts on how to clean out? My guess is running a string through
the...

Lilly Propagation by
Ted
Has anyone heard of propagating some types of lillies from their leaves? I
noticed a guy at a local pond store removing some good leaves. I asked him
what he was doing and he explained that some lillies produce a white node on
the top of the leaf. The other side is where the stem attaches. He...

Leaf covering by
Cin1754
This is my first fall with our pond. I have 2 dogwood trees that will shortly
be dropping leaves into the pond. Any suggestions of what I can build to keep
the pond covered for about 4-6 weeks?

Hurricane Isabel's possible path by
Anne Lurie
Well, kids, it may be time to think about storm preparation. I just saw the
latest 5-day forecast track for Hurricane Isabel at NOAA's website
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_astorm13+shtml/151738.shtml?, and
it's not pretty! Apparently, there's a possibility that Isabel could affect

Pond Installation, Two Important Lessons by
stricks760
1. When cutting underlayment, your wife's scissors from the kitchen drawer
work well -- for about the first 15 feet.
2. Transporting a 15X 30 foot liner in the kids wagon works well -- for
about the first 15 feet.
Unexpected costs so far, one new pair of scissors, one new wagon. I may have
more...

Remove SPAMSUX to Reply
Hello-
We're moving out of our home in a few weeks, into a new house. We won't
have a pond at the new house for about 6 months, so we're looking for
someone who can house our (2) healthy koi until sometime in the spring.
One (a Kohaku?) is about 15" long, the other is a yellow koi (Kin...

More clay pond help, Bentonite? by
Nicholas Walker
Thanks to those kind helpers.
Research has revealed the existence of Sodium Bentonite powder and
"BentoMat" membrane, which is Bentonite sandwiched between a geosynthetic
layer.
Does anyone have any experience of these products?
Haven't found a UK price yet but the stuff reads like a real...

Leak in stream? (long) by
O3raledale
Hello all,
I'm posting today to ask for help and tips in locating a leak in what I now
believe is in my stream. Here's the history,
I week ago I added some small river pebbles to my stream because I thought the
bigger river rocks needed some fill to look right. Then on wednesday I noticed
that the...

UV Clarifier Orientation by
Sam Hopkins
Unless there's something I've missed there's no difference if it's laying
down or not. Perhaps if it is laying on it's side the waterproofing of the
bulb is exposed. For instance if it was up and down rain would hit the top
and then roll off the sides over any holes - kinda like a roof. If you...
