cleaning canister filter by Barry
I have a tetra canister filter. Seems like it's been about a year since I cleaned it. Last time I disconnected it and simply cleaned it out. I'm wondering if I can some how reverse the water flow to clean it out? I assume it has good bateria at the bottom, but I'm sure there's lots of gunk down...

I purchased an Apple Snail ($4.99). Put him or her in my 3' deep pond. Within 20 minutes he was at the top munching on these floating lettuce like plants I have. I knocked him down twice. Happily I found him on the bottom this morning munching on the bottom gunk. Are these guys a danger for plants?
