Size matters...... by
DaBear
Ok, So a few weeks ago I get a call from my Dad, it seems he has finally
gave in and put in a pond. A small preform, but hey it's a start......
I took him a few spare plants ( pulled some out of the compost heap where
I'd thrown them not 5 minutes before )
I poked fun at his puddle, and he said it...

Fish and winter question by
Mike
I just built a 750 gallon pond and have 9 goldfish in it. Considering it
gets very cold here in Montreal I will be bringing the fish in for the
winter. My question is how big of an aquarium do I need for these fish?
They were bough in June as feeder fish and the biggest is now no more than...

Warming filter over winter by
RichToyBox
IMO you will need a whole lot more heat than that. I heat my small pond
(about 2000 gallons) in the Richmond Virginia area with a 15 amp immersion
heater unit, and cover the pond with a lean-to greenhouse made with several
layers of polyethylene sheeting to keep the cold air and wind away form...

Tree frog question by
jesse
Hello,
My girlfriend and I recenty bought 2 tropical green tree frogs.
We have never seen one of them eat and it hasnt changed in size since
purchasing them 2 months ago. The other has doubled in size and eats
quite happily in front of us whenever we put crickets or flies in the
tank.

Crystal clear water!!!! by

I have no bottom drain, I never check my Ph.
My fish have been breeding year after year....
This spring I put the final touch on my pond, a 6x4x4 veggie filter and an
additional 8 feet of stream.
It took some time, but I can see the bottom of the pond, can't see the
damned veggie filter though,...

Are you OK ? by

I went out to pond to check things out everything looks good daily routine.
The frog that has made the pond his home is sitting in on the island next to
the turtle spitter. I decided to check the pump trap so I turned off the
pump to clean it out. The turtle stops spitting water because the pump...

Retrun from vaction surprises by

Hello ponders,
I've been lurking here for some time; I thought I'd share what I found
on return from 3 weeks vacation.
I have a tiny 35? gallon preform pond with two goldfish. There's an
upper reservoir with a 3 foot or so stream leading down to the preform.
I have a lilly with about 10 pads,...

Pond vacuum by
pixi
Did I read something about a wet-dry vacuum cleaner that would clean the
bottom of the pond without having to empty the cleaner? That is, that
debris and water just pass through the cleaner onto the ground.
Or was I dreaming?

Hi;
Several of you have posted about using koi clay in the process of making

calcium bentonite, not sodium bentonite.

green pond, 1 small question. by

I know its been asked a million times, and I've asked it before myself, but
what I want to know is what material is best for using in a mechanical
filter to clean out the green.
I've read here to use a biofilter, what is the material? I have right now
just a low density foam filter to take out...
