cleaning by Nedra
I would need lots more information before guiding you on this. For Instance, Is the bottom just dirty? How many gallons are you talking? How big and how old are the koi? I would wait until the cooler temps of autumn before attempting to clean. Please get back to us on these questions...

Oxygenator by Szpond
After going through the power-outage worried to death about our pond, I must buy a battery operated oxygenator. All I can find is a tiny one (around $13) which is made for transporting your fish - don't think that would help much. Is their a larger battery operated oxygenator available anywhere? ...

Thalia by Jeff & Kathy Brown
Does anyone have a giant Thalia in their pond? How deep can you put them? We have a huge Thalia and the wind keeps knocking it over. If it was deeper, I doubt if it would continue to be an every day hassle. Thanks. Kathy

Lotus petals falling off prematurely by Lorraine Lawler
We have our lotus in a bog separate from the pond and this is the first time we're developed buds (second summer for plant). The buds get large and develop petals but before it actually opens, the petals fall off. We have three buds and this has happened on two of them. The third one is still too...

Thousands of Snails by Chad
I know what you mean... I have thousands too. Mine don't seem to be causing any trouble. They seem to be leaving all the plants alone. Here is a picture of what my snails were like a couple of weeks ago... they may move slow but the reproduce fast :) http://members.cox.net/bokowski/snails.html

Sick lilly by John Bachman
We have three hardy lillies in our pond which is new this year and doing great. One of the lillies has gone sickly. It put out a flower and then the pads begin showing up full of small holes circled by a black band. It started to put up another flower but that stopped and finally flopped over...

Auxillary power, was oxygenator by DaBear
A friend in Washington state has a deep cycle marine battery and a power inverter that plugs in to a cigarette lighter, he bought the whole set up at Walmart. The inverter puts out 175 watts at 115 volts. He paid $34.99 for the inverter, I have no idea what he paid for the battery. If the power...

Tip by [email protected]
I haven't had much time to work on building my pond, but doing it all by myself has led to a free helper. :) My reference point for leveling the pond was a 2X2 driven into the ground, in what will be the middle of the pond. A long, straight 2X4 was used, with a level attached to mark the elevations...

tadpoles - again by Matrix
Tadpoles are almost a thing of the past for me. There can be up to 7 pairs of toads producing eggs at once and my koi will be eagerly waiting for the toad "caviar" to be freshly made and will consume it in record time. I don't mind as it will keep a toad population down around my pond. I have not...

Space Under Deck by BenignVanilla
I have a deck that is about 4 feet off the ground. I built lattice around the base last year to hide the ugly dirt piles under neath. Since we moved in, I have tried to figure out what to do with the space. It's not really good for storage because 1) It's only got a four foot clearance, and I...

It's taken me two years, but I think pond city is ready for official inhabitants. (Actually, I already have some squatters, up at all hours making obnoxious noises, you know how it is.) I have two goldfish, school carnival coupon freebies, lived upstairs for a couple of years now. I've moved fish...
