Many people think that water gardening is difficult. Water gardens look
so exotic. But nothing could be further from the truth: I would
recommend water gardening to a rank beginner, although I might think
twice before suggesting growing something as...

little giant pond pump pmo-650 by
[email protected]
Hi,
I had a little giant submersible pond pump, model # PMO-650. It's been
tripping my GFCI, so I decided to pull it apart to see if water had got to
it.
This pump is enclosed in a plastic case, the back half of which is sealed
air-tight by O-rings. When I opened it, there was a kind...

Making a pond from railway sleepers. by
Ann Heanes
GlacierHi,
Hubby is hoping to construct a new pond from railway sleepers. He is quite
happy about doing this without plans/help, I (on the other hand) would
prefer to see some instructions/help as it will be quite an expensive
undertaking. Is there any where on the internet where we could...

What is the best type of pond snail? by
[email protected]
Hello, NG.
From my expirence with freshwater aquariums, I found the snails I tried
all reproduced quickly and were hard to control. Anyone have a
recommendation for good pond snail? Or should I instead go with a few
algae eaters from a tropical fish store? I live in north Florida and
have a...

evaporation by
pete
I have a 250 gallon water garden. I am wondering how much water I
lose through evaporation on a typical sunny day. Does anyone know what the
percentage might be? Thanks.

flexiponds by
seneca
Anyone got, of knows anything about flexiponds? It’s a rigid pond made
from “a revolutionary rubberised material” which means it can be folded
up and delivered in a box. According to the manufacturer it’s like a
cross between a flexible and a rigid liner with the advantages of both
and none of...

Bare Root Lilies by
CanadianPonder©
Has anybody had success putting in their lilies bare root in your pond ?
I think it was Derek who suggested it. My lilies are coming in soon and
I am still debating on this. I love the advantages of not having to pot
these things but I don't see any mention of bare root lilies in ponds
anywhere on...

Ichabon - small and large by
Koi-Lo
I picked up two 10 lb bags of Ichabon for the GF and koi. It was $74 for
the 20 lbs. I'm curious to see what difference this food makes. Of course
the fish love it, but they love the cheap stuff, kitty and puppy chow as
well.

Shelf life of pond bacteria by
DavidM
Standing in the local pond shop yesterday I tried to find a good source
of filter bacteria, but left with nothing feeling pretty annoyed.
The shop once sold bacteria in a sealed bad impregnated onto a foam pad.
It makes sense that the bacteria should colonise the pad in good
numbers. The pad was...

How to trace leak by
[email protected]
Help,
Last year I moved into a house which has a koi pond. I had no problems
with the pond last year. This year I am getting a slow leak. I can't
seem to find out where the water is going. I have checked around the
pond and I can't find a wet area which would indicate that the water is
spilling...

Water lily Q by

I've read somewhere they don't like their pads splashed. No matter how I
arrange lily/fountain, I can't avoid splashing. What will it do to the lily?

Pressurised pond filters - any good? by
[email protected]
I'm having to clean my current uv/filter (a Hozelock model) every few
days. I enquired at a local supplier about a larger replacement and
was steered towards a Oase Filtoclear pressurised model.
I thought I read somewhere these were not up to much but cannot find
the reference now, anyone have one...

pond fish pregnant? by
garyjohn_99
Hi all, I am in England an have had a garden pond for three years with
goldfish but never had babies. I have noticed this morning that one of
the goldfish looks pregnant and is constantly followed by another. Does
this mean she is pregnant and if so, how do I stop the babies being
eaten as I guess...

When using Interpet Sludgebuster or any other of these sludge clearing
bacteria agents is it necessary to turn off the UV ?
I'm wondering if the UV will kill off the useful bacteria.

Pond Friendly Estates by
~ janj
When I was a kid I remember neighborhoods going in that were in the county,
with the idea it would be small farms, so people could have a few acres,
yet have the feel of a residential area. Some of these places became very
fancy and others very junky, but the whole idea being people were...
