Dead Frogs by
David Sim
A friend of mine (local to me in Reading, Berkshire, UK) keeps finding a
number of dead frogs / toads in his pond - sometimes 6 or 7 every morning -
my first thoughts were that they could be drowning but he assures me he's
seen some come & go quite easily from the water (steep sided pond)
Any...

All Dried Up? by
coveredinink
I recently purchased a home with a few acres in the country. Last year
when I bought it, it had a small farm pond of about 50 x 30 x 5 and
showing that at one time was much bigger. This year, it is now 10 x 8 x
2 even in the wettest of weather.
I am wanting to recoupe the original size and state of...

All the plants are in kiddy-pools and all are covered in...

Plant shelves by
Joan
I have a 300 gallon stock tank that I'm keeping as a
quarentine/hospital tank in case my pond fish need it. I'd like to
put some plant shelves in. Is cedar or other regular wood okay, or
might these contain substances that would be toxic to the fish?
Thanks.

7 free koi by
Koi-Lo
Whoops, I forgot to mention the size. These fish are all around 12 to 15"
in length minus their tails. Two are ghost koi, two are blue, and the rest
are yellow or orange. One is scaleless.

black insects on them. They first showed up last Fall and have renewed
themselves on this years crop. The bugs are about the size of the head on a

Q about feeding by
BoyPete
I've seen some posts in here about times to feed fish, but can't find them
now. Temp. was mentioned too, is this air or water temp?
I'm away from the house 12 hours a day, so can only feed either 6 in the
morning, or 6 in the evening. Which would be best? Pond is planted up now,
and filter running,...

Underwater light (update) by
CanadianPonder©
I give credit to "snooze" for this idea and it works great.
Use a mason jar as your enclosure.
Drill a hole in the centre of the metal top
where your wire will go through. Use a 20 Watt
halogen bulb and if you wish add some coloured filter at the
bottom of the jar (where the light will shine...

Waterlilies full of buds by
Koi-Lo
Our waterliles are full of buds! Many will be blooming in a week if the
weather stays steady. The weather has been warm and sunny for the past few
days. This weekend we'll start the repairs on the 800g pond. I hope we
wont need a new liner but can reuse the Tetra 60 mil one in there now.
The...

Automatic cleaner for swimming pond by
Koen
Hi,
I've just finished building my swimming pond (50 m3 swimming area with 13 m3
biofilter with lava rock). Construction is concrete brick walls with EPDM
rubber liner.
Since it collects quite some debris (leaves and stuff) which sinks to the
bottom before the surface flow drives it to the...

Large siphon question by
Bruce
I am trying to use a 4" flexible corrugated plastic pipe to siphon from
my pond into a small pool and then to a stream bed. I have no problem
getting the flow going, but after a few days the flow rate goes down.
Then after about a week it stops altogether.
I did not need to use quite the capacity...

which filter for suspended clay? by
Easynews
Dear all,
We have a new large-ish wildlife pond, 10m (30 feet or so) roughly circular,
and about 5 feet deep in the middle. We have a problem with the local soil
being heavy red clay- as a result the water is permanently a greyish-brown
colour and water can't penetrate to plants. I've tried...
