Lifting Lotuses by gene
The lotus that was savaged by a racoon in the spring just sent up its first aerial leaf. I guess there was a little growing point left that didn't rot. I don't think I'll get a blossom this season in Chicago, because it started out so late, but I am wondering if I can lift and store such a little...

Disease problem by marmot
Thanks very much for the advice. The treatments I used were Tetrapond and Interpet from my local aquatics pet shop, the non-chemical anti-blanket weed treatment used bacteria or enzymes or something, I can't remember to be honest, but it was recommended to me. The pond is less than a year and a...

Pond electrics by Steve
Hi, I recently purchased an all-in-one fountain, filter, pump and light. I asked if I needed a Residual Circuit Breaker but was told that most modern electrical systems will trip in the event of a problem. Also, with or without the RCB, is it best practice to wire this to an always-on spur or...

Is it Human? by Charles & Mambo Duckman
Kathy wrote: Why would any woman want to terminate the life of a human that is developing within herself? The answer may not please those who favor abortion. But the fact remains that selfishness is often at the root of the problem. It is usually an evasion of responsibility. Is that...

Pond Bottom: rocks or no rocks? by JGW
We're getting ready to build our new pond. The contractor wants to line the walls and bottom with rocks, which he says will serve as a great huge biofilter. I have read that it's impossible to keep the pond clean with rocks on the bottom, and that they can trap hydrogen sulfide gas. What are...

Artificial Plants by Cheryl and Rob
Anyone ever use artificial plants in their pond? I tried a few real plants and they just made the water really dark green after just three days. I had a little Anchors and a dwarf cattail and a pickerel rush (blue). I understand that the cattail and the pickeral rush are marginals and I did have...

Can waterfall foam be applied in damp conditions??? by Ann505
Ok so I just got my pond up but the waterfall is leaking!! So I drained the pond down and tried to get most of the water out, but with rain almost daily I don't think it will ever be totally dry. So will it still attach to the liner if wet? Also do you know if it's very flexible? Will it stick to...
