Hard water by
billfish
My pond test strips I bought on Ebay finally arrived after waiting 19
days for Royal Snail Mail to deliver them, so I did a test. Most things
are OK, (NO3=10, NO2=1, a bit high, KH=6d, ph=between 7.6 and8) but the
GH is very high at 16d. The instructions with the test strips say to
do a part water...

Turtle prices - just curious by
Bill Stock
I was in the LFS the other day buying some overpriced plants when I saw a
tank full of turtles. They were the infamous Red Eared Sliders, so I took a
closer look. Then I saw the price, $40 Cdn. Holy Catfish, they didn't look
that interesting!

Bulkheads the US call them, Where in UK by
Daniel Finn
Hi,
I am after the connector which you fit to a tank and attach a hose to
the other end. In the US it is called a bulk head. What are they called
in the UK and where can I find one?
Also where can I get different sized water tanks to custom build
filters out of?
Thanks,

Sequence Pump by
Nan Zitney
Our 1 yr old pump stopped, and the impeller had to be manually moved to get
it going. It kept stopping, and DH said it was hot. He took it apart and
found the front bearing shot. We were lucky enough to have a place nearby
where he got the right bearing and replaced it. The pump was so quiet...

used approximately 30' of 3" ABS pipe from the center of my pond to a
gravity fed vortex tank. I am using a TETRA bottom drain which I have
enclosed in concrete (2' x 2' x 2').
At a recent water garden show someone told me...

Hello all! I have been enjoying my new pond until I saw a drowned sparrow
in it. I think he tried to land on my water lettuce. How do you deal with
this? I was thinking of placing chicken wire under the plants
