Mrs. Slocum in bloom by
Gary Woods
You've been spared my occasional pond ruminations because I went out to
Decorah, Iowa, for the Seed Saver's Exchange convention for a week. When I
left, the new Mrs. Perry D. Slocum lotus had a bud showing a little color,
so I was pretty sure it would be done and gone on my...

Lily Problem by
[email protected]
The lily I bought for my new pond a few weeks ago (Nymphaea Carnea) has
had it.
The leaves developed black patches and one by one the leaves rotted at
the base and detached themselves. I took the tuber/root out the pot and
found the top to be soft.
I,ve tried re-potting it after cutting the soft...

Pope and abortion by
Cracklin'
Pope Pius IX in 1869 extended punishment of excommunication for the
abortion of an embryo at any age. In 1951, Pius XII restated the
principle, saying: “Every human being, even the child in the mother’s
womb, receives its right to life directly from God, not from its
parents.” Speaking in Kenya in...

Help with Catfish Part 2 by
Carl Beyer
I have put up some pictures of the cat after capturing it.
I apologize for the net. I was quite unaware at how big it had become.
Also, the pictures have a bit of a blur. Looked crisp in the viewer...
Also the pictures are big. If you do not have DSL you may not want to

Tiny black bugs on pond plants by
Judi
All of a sudden I have tiny black bugs on some of my plants. I was thinking
spider mites but I'm just not sure.
They seem to be mostly on the floating type plants.
I used a few drops of dish detergent in a spray bottle of water. Worked for
a few days but now they are back.
What would you use on...

Why only PVC liners ? by

Ive been reading up quite a lot about building fish ponds & water gardens &
what I see is that they all advocate the use of PVC liners for lining the
pond. Nobody talked about using bricks & cement or mortar. I'm actually
planning to build a fish pond measuring about 18'x20' in my garden and I
