Holes in Water lily leaves........and other ? by
Roy
Ok, I have a lot of lilys with what looks like hail damage, but it is
not. The damage looks like a hole with about 270 degrees of its
circumference seperated from the lilly and a small portion that is
still attached., sort of like a large hole that is punched in a paper
but with a little portion of...

dropsy by
Gary John
I am the guy who had the snake in my pond - thankfully it has (i think)
moved on.
However, one of my goldfish has the ("cone look") which I am led to believe
is dropsy.
I have bought some Interpret anti ulcer treatment from local pet shop.
The fish doesn't seem too bad at the moment but do I leave...

Homemade waterfall spillway by
Mike C
To make a long story short, I have a small yard and therefore have a
small very upright structure built out of stone for my waterfall. It is
very square and I put a liner behind the face layer of stone (all the
stone are large rectangles) and underneath the top layer. Rodents ate
throw the liner...

Sick Goldfish - help please by
Sam
Hi, I'm a long term lurker but now need a bit of help.
I have a small pond in the UK.
The small goldfish have been quite happy until about 2 months ago when all
bar one began to die.
All displayed what looked like white 'dust' on their scales and their fins
began to rot away.
I bought about 5...

Fish Barrier on half barrel tubs by
Roy
Since I pulled all goldies and wakins out of the wifes numerous half
barrel setups, and have all kinds of tropicals in them now, jumpers
have gotten to be a problem......so I had to make a barrier around the
edge to keep em in.......I had used 1/2 x 1/2 inch plastic mesh, but
it always looks ruff...

Algae Problem by
pixi
Just for the record, about a month ago I put six water hyacinths in my pond
to hopefully counteract algae. The pond was thick with algae and no matter
what I did it kept increasing.
Since putting the water hyacinth there is almost no algae but I sure will
have to begin culling water hyacinth.

Mid Summer Maintenance by
CanadianCowboy©
Hello all,
can anybody give us their ritual of mid summer maintenance to the pond.
I have a bio filter but I'm not sure if I should clean it since it is
established with good "bio".
Also does anybody have a good method of cleaning the inside of water
pump tubes that get coated with "guck" during...

pond filter requirements by
wruess
Talking to local pond builder who only uses an 'undergravel' type filter in
his ponds - like a large version of an aquarium setup. Does this sound a
bit wacky? - everything I read talks about having an outside biofilter
setup.
Thanks

Dead algae.. dos that reduce oxy levels? by
Gareee©
My greenwater finally died off, but now I have brown water.
I built one of those "milk crate" submerged filter, driven by our large pond
spitter pump, but noticed this am, the fish all in a cluster, doing the air
sucking thing.
Does the dead algae reduce oxygen levels? I turned the bubblers on...

Butterfly from short-fins...... by
Reel Mckoi
I just finished sorting more of the koi fry from the GF fry. I can tell the
diamond scaled fry, the mirror scaled and the Duitsi (sp?) from the regular
metallic koi - but not which ones are the butterfly koi. Anyone have
experience with this? At what age or size does that become...

My friends bought a house that has an approx. 500 gal brick pond with

cleaned the filter the fish in the pond started dieing. Some small,
some large, they have five fish left and and some are very young and
others are older. The...

Peas, frozen or canned... by
Reel Mckoi
Is anyone still feeding their GF and koi peas? There was a lot of talk
about feeding peas a few years back. I picked up a can and tried to feed
them to my fish. Only the rosy red minnows and fry would eat them. The
adult GF and koi weren't much interested. The minnows and fry left the pea
skins...

Pond Photos by
[email protected]
We started our pond last fall and the fish wintered over just fine.
Today I finally got around to putting up some pictures. Our challenge
was to convert a hugh above ground swiming pool into a pool and
waterfalls. Pictures are at:

Electronic Blanketweed Controllers by
2pods
I was looking at the above and noticed it says they must be installed "at
least 1.5m from the pond".
Would that be 'cos of the radio waves from the antennae, or just to stop it
getting wet ?
