Pond/waterfall update, Thanks Kathy! by
Suthern Transplant
Hi all,
Just a happy note to say thank you to Kathy and her Hubby for the advice
given on how to equalize water on an upper pond leading by waterfall to a
lower pond. It's up and running and the pipe thing worked just fine. The
placement of the rocks for the waterfall was a bitch...lol but well...

Naples Florida Above Ground Pond by
V.V.
Hoping someone can help me- I'm interested in building a square or
rectangular pond on my pool deck. I just moved to Naples Florida. I'd like
to find a pre-formed tub and build a face for it. My problem is where to
find a large tub in the area. Any suggestions? Also, has anyone built one
of...

Koi is using stones to chew her food by
Forest
One of my Koi is clearly using a mouthful of rough gravel to chew her
food when I put a piece of meat in front of her. Then she spits the
gravel out. This is in a 60 gallon aquarium. The bottom is covered
with irregular rubble granite gravel with approximately 1/4"
dimensions. The fish takes...

I am 'trying' black moors & orandas etc. plus a few small koi .

I 'did' find a dead fish on the bottom of my pond. by sheer luck, as the
light was in the riight spot.
questions: I thought dead fish...

Super lookin g setup....I like the theme, it fits the coastal area
just fine....
What part of the country are you located in? No need for address, just
county or city would do or even the state, if your paranoid about
folks on the internet knowing too much.
I'm located in LA, ( Lower Alabama....

Hi Group,
Forgive me if I'm in the wrong place, but you guys seem to know what
you're talking about. Please point me in the right direction if you
have any clue what I'm talking about.
I would like to build (or attempt to build) a water fountain that
squirts jets of water (continuously or in...

Automatic Koi Feeders by
GaryCam
Hello all. This summer I'm going to be away for a number of week-long trips.
I suspect my neighbors are getting tired of me asking them to feed my koi (9
fish in 3000 gal with bio & UV filters). I've looked at some koi feeders on
the web but they all seem so expensive. Has anyone figured out how to...

Another Anti-Heron Ploy by
Gib
Works along the same line as the beach ball.
A friend that works at a wildlife preserve told me to put some helium filled
mylar balloons around the pond. They supposedly can't stand the motion and
all the reflections. I have had them up for about a month and my 6"
platinum butterfly is still...

Mosquitoes and Crumble by
Cynthia Donahey
Crumble is the decayed heartwood of trees, or rotten wood. You have to go
to some trouble to collect crumble. There are many different kinds. It was
the first mulch. It has an interesting historic background, if anyone is
interested. I have played around with different uses
I have been growing...

grasses beside the pond or the mistake that is NEVER going away by
kathy
Or be careful what you wish for...
I took some seeds from these grasses from a lake
in Idaho and thought one bunch would be nice
at the edge of the pond. One bunch. HA! There
is NO such thing as one bunch with this grass.
You can go to the website below and see where
I posted a picture of these...

Tip for defeating herons by
GaryCam
I think my wife may have stumbled upon a solution to our heron problem. And
it's really cheap!!!
We love watching our koi play with floating orange sections so one day my
wife thought she'd see if they would play with a beach ball. She put a
multi-colored 12" one in the pond. No, the koi weren't...

Leaches by
Snoddywig
I've sorted out the overstocking of the pond to give Jaws more room, but
in the process I've found that the pond is overrun with leaches.
I've not introduced any new fish or plants for years. Those fish that
were in the pond have bred themselves.
Can leaches come in on frogs etc?
How do I get...
