UK Pond centres in Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire by
Steve
Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any pond centres in Herts/Cambs? We're
looking to buy a pond. We have quite specific ideas on how big and what
shape we want the pond and would prefer a shell rather than lining. We're
looking for a place that has a good selection.
Any help appreciated,
Steve

Brown algae? Or slim? by
DD DDD
300 gallon preform. 3 months old. Temperature about 80. I have a brown
looking algae. I never had that before. The water is clear, the fish are
happy. I have 3 turtles all 5-6 inches. and a few fish. I have a great
filter with uv light. But the pump is 1600gph. So maybe its to fast

Schubunkins, next generation? by
Quercus Robur
Trying to phrase this without X words.
I think one of my Schubunkins is about to have off-spring. I used to have
aquariums many years ago, so understand what is involved. Are Schubunkins
live bearers? Should I put her in quarantine, i.e. acquarium? Our pond
(bucket) is only 100 g, populated by...

Turtles have white feed and heads by
DD DDD
#00 gallon preform. I have 3 turtles abot 5 inches. 2 have just gotten
White feet. Look like shedding skin. The head of one has it only where
its head is poking out of the water. the rest of its neck is fine. Is
this lack of basking? I have 2 basking areas but we only get 4-5 hours
sun at the pond....

ADK (a dead koi) by

Bummer. Looked out the window this fine chilly overcast Colorado
morning, and there was a 3" koi floating in the pond. :-( .
So down I went to see what was up, and there were about 3 goldfish and a
few smaller koi chasing this other gold fish. You know, the mating thing.
Any possibility the other...

2 weeks since water and plants by
mark Bannister
Well, it's been about 2 weeks since the new pond got water, plants and a
few fish. The water has turned a little green, but no real algae bloom.
PH has stayed at 7.6 - 7.8. Hardness and alkalinity have been very
stable as well. (I don't recall the numbers off hand but they are right
in the...

I'm showing off some of the plants I put in at the edge of one of my ponds

"Uh, isn't that poison ivy?" Now I'm not allergic to poison ivy or any
other stuff like that (I would have known, I planted some stuff right in

Seashells with Goldfish? by
not very clever
I have a new pond (approx 5000 litres) with a pump/filter system with a
capacity up to 12000 litres.
I intend keeping Goldfish in it once everything is balanced out.
Would seashells (cockle) be okay in the base? I have read somewhere that
they are made of calcium which might be a problem - or...

colorado ponders by
Wilmdale
Anyone notice a large drop in water levels in your ponds this weekend?
Just checking... We have had a LOT of high, dry winds lately here in
Colorado Springs. I went out this morning and some of the tops of pots
were visible above the water level and the skimmer top was sitting on
the base.

Potash, salt? by
robv60
would adding potash (muriate of sulfate magnesia, 0-0-22, epsom
SALTS)have the same benefits for fish as adding pond salt to the water?
Or is epsom salts a different breed of salt all together? How much to
add to a 1200g and 1750g pond for floating plant health?
