Should we use Ocean Water in our Sal****er Aquarium? by Guayni SAHS
After a long research I found that the majority of the credible sources endorse if not promote the use of fresh ocean waters in your aquarium. Nevertheless, there is a slight opposition to this option by many. This objection is worst considering... For example, the Complete Encyclopedia of the...

Blonde Naso Tang Free to Good Home in San Jose CA area by SusanHRWelch
My husband and I are dismantling our aquariums in order to have our house tented for termites. We have a blonde naso tang, about 9 inches long, who needs a good home. If you have a healthy salt water aquarium he can live in, please get in touch with me before December 17th.

Tree Coral? by Joe
Please take a look at this pictu http://www-personal.umich.edu/~jclucas/index.html Is this a tree coral? We just got this as our first piece of coral last night, and it doesn't seem to be doing too well. This might very well be because we bought a new heater last night, and unbeknownst to...

Good, Quality Advice Web-site? by Joe
I've been googling, but have yet to find a quality website that discusses setting up and caring for marine tanks. Does one exist? I'm looking for a good source that details fish, discusses their tank requirements (along with other organism), and goes through other stuff (i.e. water salinity, etc.)....

clown fish seem to be nibbling on my new mushrooms by Gill Passman
Hi All, I recently went out and bought some very attractive mushrooms - white with filaments - so almost look hairy when extended.....this afternoon I found one of them on the substrate....I watched the tank quite closely after that and on of my clown fish is poking away at another...

In-Tank Refugium? by StringerBell
Now that I`ve upgraded my lighting, algae growth has boomed. Surprise ,Surprise :) Ive been avoiding the sump/refugium thing because of the risk of flood (I am no plumber!). Would hanging a 16" X 4" X 4" box stuffed with Chaeto on the INSIDE of my 65 gallon tank be effective in reducing...

Dorie by KurtG
What kind of fish was Dorie in the movie Nemo? A Natural Blue Tang? I haven't found anything that looks like her. Okay, I know what your thinking, but I'm posting this on behalf of my kids that keep pelting me with this question. --Kurt

Sump Protein Skimmer by KurtG
Can the pump for the protein skimmer also work as the return to the tank? It seems inefficient to have a skimmer in the sump, but then a separate pump to move the water back to the tank. I suppose I could experiment on my own, but what's the usual setup for a sump skimmer? --Kurt

Coralife Electronic Ballast Problem by Joe
My wife and I have a 50 gallon marine reef tank, and we bought a Coralife Retrofit Light Set with 4 65W bulbs (two 'white' and two 'blue). The problem is that one of our 'white' bulbs won't come on, and I think it is something to do with the electronic ballast - the wire that comes out of the back...

G'day. by swarvegorilla
Hello. Accidental cross posts aside I haven't really had the pleasure peoples. I have a few year experience with marine fish but most has been with predator setups. Larger perch, eels, octopus and cuttle fish. Now tho I have some very nice live rock going in a few tanks, not a real reef yet but...

Fresh Ocean Water by KurtG
I'm currently mixing salt water for my tank, but as I do this, i gaze out my window at the ocean and wonder. Wouldn't real Ocean water work better? It would have all the ions, minerals, etc, but it may have some unwanted bacteria. I live close to the atlantic. I've heard of fish stores in...

Security Restrictions and Live Fish by KurtG
Given our latest restrictions in the US of 3 oz liquids in a quart bag, how does this work with live animals such as fish? I'm going to be in Vero Beach and I was thinking of dropping by a fish store I'm aware of. If I can bring a small dog/cat on a flight, it seems reasonable to bring a live...

Microbubbles by nacree
I'm having a microbubble problem with my tank. The microbubbles are coming out of the return spray bar. It's not real bad, I can still see in the tank fine, I was just wanting it crystal clear. The tank is a 85 gallon drilled Oceanic, 2-1" holes drain to the ~30g sump below, with a Iwaki...
