Snails-What are they doing by
Pat
Hi folks,
Last week I picked up 2 very large(3" or so in diameter, just a bit
smaller than a baseball I'd say) turbo snails. One of the snails seems
to want to eat algae and such off my glass, the other seems more
interested in playing football with the other snail. He crawls on the
other snail...

Drain Size & Pump Size by
[email protected]
I purchased an acrylic tank 48x24x24 drilled for a 1 1/2" drain. I
have two questions; first, what size pump would you suggest to return
the water, and what size should I drill the return(s)?
I am planning on a reef tank with soft corals if that helps at all.

Fish dress sense by
miskairal
A few days ago I went downstairs to feed the fish and my coral beauty
and sailfin tang went beserk all over the tank. The pyjama cardinals and
ocellaris didn't look too happy either. I stood there, moving on
occasion though, watching and trying to think what could be wrong. After
about a minute...

I've just found something in my tank that I need identified before

Bristleworms by
[email protected]
OK, something to watch out for;
I've had my corals and anemones for a couple years, and was noticing
a gradual decline in the health of the critters the past couple months.
I've also noticed an increase in bristleworms. Finally found the
correlation: after a few minutes, the worms will gradually...

Rose anenome splitting by
TW
I purchased a rose anemone about 8 months ago. About a month ago I
noticed that it was noticeably bigger. It had split in two. I was
thrilled with my success. On the weekend it did it again. I now have
three rose anemones in my tank. Has anyone had a similar experience? My
LFS is licking it...

Oceanic megaflow by
[email protected]
Hi everyone,
I'm double posting this here and to RC--I know some people frequent
both and I'm new to the whole overflow-sump thing, so here goes:
1: Oceanic 58RR w/ megaflow, running 1 day, converted from a 10yr old
30 sumpless. The megaflow isn't great at surface skimming 'cause of
the intakes...

What eats elephant ear corals? by
[email protected]
Hi all,
At the risk of being flamed for wanting to rid my tank of what some
might call a beautiful coral, I would like to know the best way to RID
my tank of elephant ears. I bought a small piece of rock with metallic
green xenias and within a week a small elephant ears started to grow. A
couple of...

Lighting for refugium and coral prop zone by
BigLou
I just finished building my custom sump setup for my tank and with the
added room I had underneath I decided to add both a refug. and a coral
prop zone. For my last birthday my wife bought me a 175W Metal Hailide
ballast kit and a generic bulb (which I plan to replace). My main
question is what...

New 90 gallon set up by
Groovok
I set up a 90 gallon salt tank over a week ago now, I am using a wet/dry
filter that was brand new but sitting in my attic for four years now, I
loaded it with bio balls and the pump works great. I also have a Fluval 404
on the tank, a power head and a hugh pro clear protein skimmer. I'm not
sure...

Anybody with experience on the prefab nano tank setups? by
Pat
I've been looking at the LFS and online and it seems that these smaller
all inclusive systems are selling like hotcakes. I noted the Aquapod 24
gallon setup, you can get it with PC lights for $200 or Metal Halide for
$350. It has an interesting filter system that's built in, basically
water flows...

Clown trigger actin odd... by

My wife picked the worst possible time to buy me a fish let alone a
clown trigger. I am out of ammonia and nitrite Salifert test kits but I
do have the nitrate kit. My water has been good but the fish is acting
weird and I can't test for those two parameters. He is eating when I
feed him a little...

I found mine nesting on the base of a leather on the shaded side. Look
to see if the colt coral is withdrawn and that is a good sign to give
it a once over for the carnivor.
