Hippo tang... by
Michael Lawford
Hi All,
I put my first Hippo (regal) tang into my tank yesterday. Any advice. He
still seems a little shy so far but is getting along well with the coral
beauty!

Lighting by
Rob
I have been using a USHIO UHI-250W 10K double ended Metal halide bulb
for years now. Has anyone tried the Hamilton Technology 10K or 14K
bulbs?
Any feedback on them and I am thinking of switching to the 14K bulb,
any feed back on this as to color rendition or coral growth?
Thanks
Rob

Odd red coral like thigs? by
Michael Lawford
Hi All,
I have had these two red coral like growths appear quite a bit on my LR. Th
one looks like a red leaf and the other like little red rubber polyps....
Any idea what these could be - I have looked around for the answer but
cannot track one down.

Worms? Pests or Good? by
Richard Periut
Please click on the link to ID these guys.
They have multiplied like crazy, and they are starting to pester me.
I thought these were beneficial worms? Whatever they are, and what
should I do.
TIA,

Dottyback Behaviour Question by
Ann R
I have a purple psuedochromis that is continually excavating caves under the
live rock. We have all the live rock supported by PVC so it can't come
crashing down on him. Bob (named for Bob the Builder children's books) takes
mouthfuls of sand and spits it out all over the tank. When ready...

Open water/natural systems by
[email protected]
Hey all,
I am looking for some starting places in exploring the feasibility of a
small (=100 gals.) open water system, or whatever is the appropriate
term for an aquarium in which the water is pumped directly from a
natural source. The tank will not be a typical reef tank per se (I
live along an...

Raising Lobsters by
Peter Pan
Has anyone ever tried to raise Lobsters in a chilled tank? If so, What
problems did you run into. Where can I learn more about it.
I read somewhere that a 3-5 lb lobster takes roughly 7 years or so.. With
this mind set, I could dine on lobster for a long long time without the $$
that goes along...

Back to Chiller setup by
Rob
I have a 65 gallon reef, 15 gal sump, outside skimmer. Would I run a
tube from the skimmer outlet to the chiller and let it flow directly
into the tank?
Does anyone know anything about Pacific Coast chillers?
Thanks
Rob

Vacation equipment. by
Richard Periut
Hi all,
Will be going on vac for two weeks, and I need a timer for the MH
lighting, and an automatic feeder. I have a yellow tang, 2 chromies,
feeder crew, and some corals.
Any suggestions with respect to models, price, et cetera. I went to
Radio Shack but the timers didn't convince me. I was...

overflow question by
David Young
I have an acrylic overflow, weir style, on my 120 gallon tank. I have had
more than one occasion that it has stopped flowing and the tank has come
close to or has overflowed. I initially used the water lift pump that came
with it to remove air from the weir. That burnt up and I now have an air
tube...

Refractometer Question by
TomW
I was given a refractometer recently and I can't get it adjusted down
to 0 using RO water. It's about 6 years old and probably requires
recalibration and possibly service (although it looks to be in perfect
shape).
Can anyone point me in the direction of a company that can provide
these...

My second tank, some differences by
Mark Cooper
I have set up my second SW tank, a 29 gal. which I intend to eventually
be a coral tank. It's occupied currently by one tomato clown, 6 astrea
turbo snails, and one hermit crab who hitched a ride on the live rock.
This LR came from my 55 fowlr set up.
Taking a cue from Mr. Levenson, I made a...

Jaubert plenum for NNR, status ? by
George Pontis
I read a basic description of the Jaubert Plenum for nitrate reduction, in Kurtz's
"Simple Guide to Marine Aquariums". The idea sounds good on paper, but I wonder if
it has withstood the test of time. Anyone using the system, or comments on the
effectiveness of it ?
