Making Live Rock? by
Mark Cooper
If you put ordinary rocks in your tank with LR, I assume that eventually
they will be populated by the LR flora/fauna. What types of rock are best
suited for this?
Thanks,
Mark

First visit to Tongs in Costa Mesa CA by
Dsybok
All I can say is, I was missing out. Best selection of corals, small frags,
large frags, fish, advanced hardware like quality skimmers and MH setups.
The place is huge by LFS standards around here. Must have had 30 large 50G
plus tanks full of corals for sale blanket priced at 29.99, 39.99, 99.99...

Fish has a popeye by
Mark C.
My yellow tail damsel is well and fiesty as ever, however over the last six
months or so he's developed a few small bumps here and there and today I
notice one of his eyes is bulging. If this is a disease anyone know what it
could be?

Maxijets at night by
austin mack
I have a 120 and the way I have it set up, when the lights go out at
night, all pumps shut off except for the sump recirculation pump. Should
I be keeping some more circulation going at night with the Maxijets?
This is a reef tank, some corals, 2 elegant Anemones, some LR, a few
small fish, a...

moving reef to bigger tank - should I move old sand as is or rinse somehow? by
Phil Tomaskovic
I'm moving a 30 gal reef tank to a new 65 tall tank. I know I can take all
the old water from the 30 and then just add new water of the same
salinity/temp to top off the new tank.
I was wondering about moving the old sand (after emptying all the livestock
else to a temp container). This tank has...

Hangon OverFlow Box Problem by
gaijin
I recently got a new overflow box and cannot seem to get the flow rate
to work. A have a weak (piece of crap) pump Rio 1700, however with
the pump running wide open, the water level in the overflow matches
that of the tank level. When I try to throttle it back to a more
comfortable level, I get...

Yellow African Anemone?? by
DeeOooGee
I decided to finally buy my first Anemone. I went to the LFS and found a
bright yellow Anemone that looked awesome. After some debating I purchased
this one over several smaller long tentacle Anemones.
The other inhabitants in my tank are as follows... One single polyp (came
with LR), a cluster...

crocea clam hitchhiker by
Billy
I acquired a T. crocea today, about 3 inches tip to tip. On one side
of the clam, about 5mm from the mantle, is something's house. What
pops out of the 'house' looks like a snail's head, but it is sessile.
The 'house' is permanently attatched to the crocea. Please tell me
this isn't the...

Mushroom behavior? by
DANorgard
Hi;
I've had a Red Mushroom in my tank for a few months (5 or 6) and in the last
month it has budded two new ones. The original has now, within two days,
changed. Although still full, it's edges have begun to curl down and it's
stalk has gone from about 3/8" diameter to the size of a kite...

New Yellow Tang by
Ray Martini
Hi All:
I added a beautiful yellow tang to my tank on Tuesday. He seems happy and
swims about doing his thing. He's not eating yet however and this causes
some concern. I have offered flakes, pellets, and of course green seaweed
clipped inside the tank. Shows no interest in food really.
Is he...

Soft corals for a little high nitrate by
swhastan
Hi, guys
I have a few corals in my aquarium.(Xenia, Zoo, Elegant coral, and anemones)
Current nitrate level is around 10 ppm. Also, is this level of nitrate
really dangerous for my corals and anemone?
Also, I'm trying to reduce it with macro algae such as caulerpa in a 29 G
refugium, and denitrate...

and 1" drains with 3/4" returns.

Yellow Finger Gorgonian by
fishyman
Hello,
I bought a Yellow Finger Gorgonian at my LFS about five days ago. The
first day I put him in, his polyps were extended. Since then, I have
not seen them extended. I read somewhere that this may be normal since
they may only be extended when the lights are off at night. I am new to
corals,...

The hated Damsel by
DeeOooGee
I purchased my first "real" fish for my tank today. I had a blue damsel in
there for the past 3 months. I love the new Firefish! The Damsel
immediately started backing into it and then I saw him go after him. I have
a 46 G tank with 45lbs of LR, so there are many hiding places. This damsel
was...

RedSea Berlin Protein skimmer problem by
swhastan
Hi, guys
I set up RedSea Berlin protein skimmer with Rio HF20(1200GPH) yesterday. A
minute ago, I found serious problem. So many bubbles are generated without
protein and salt water overflows over a cup.
Is it due to high flow of the pump? - Recommended flow rate is 800 ~900 GPH.
Thanks,
Sungwon

Unwanted hitchhikers on live rock by

Im planning on starting my first salt water tank and have been reading up on

Mantis Shrimp, etc.). How likely is it for such things to come with the
live rock? I will be buying my rock from a LFS, that has already...
