DSB by
KurtG[_3_]
Any good recommendations for Detritus build-up? I inherited a 100
gallon tank with a DSB, but I've been battling high nutrient loads since
I got it. I suspect that the DSB is loaded with detritus.

sponges by
jthread
I have numerous sponges starting to grow in the 45. The 30 already has a
bunch. Some survived when we bought the lr.
The change since i removed the bio matter (fun to say), from the 45 gallon,
is noteworthy.

wolfdogg[_5_]
my black brittle thats about 6 inches expanded was trying to wrap his
legs around the flame goby continually while the goby kept getting away
when he felt the tugging. but the goby kept coming back for more, and
wasnt even watching the brittle, like he was oblivious to this. Im

Nasty Hair Algae by
Scott E. Nelson

Sally lightfoot, emerald crab, blue legs, scarlets, astrea, red legs, yellow
tang and sailfin blennie won't touch this crap. I have to scrub with tooth
brush to remove but it will grow back. I use phosphate remover...

Heater Recommendations by
KurtG
I think I have one heater that won't heat at all and another that is
stuck on. Any recommendations on a heater?
I guess it's back to walmart to pick up another cheap-o.

Re Lighting by
[email protected]
I have a 65 high reef tank, 36" long. I am currently using metal
halide on it, however it is costing me approx $65.00 a month just to
run the lights, The pumps are extra of course. I have a nice mix of
hard and soft coral. The question is what can I replace the metal
halides with that will give me...

Tank Temps by
KurtG
I ordered some more slimline fans, but my temp still swings from 77 to
84 in a day. Is 7 degrees too much?
I was hoping to wait till next month to buy a chiller, but it seems like
I need to do something sooner.

Corals / Anemones/ lighting by
Peter Pan[_2_]
I have a FOWLR and I'm thinking of adding corals and or anemones. I
don't know anything about either of them so I'm here doing some
research. I know I don't want to buy any special lighting other then
bulbs so, from Soup to nuts, what will I need to do?

Tanks by
NoSpam
5 or so years ago the glass manufactures made a low lead level glass
that is just like acrylic, as far as clarity.
Why hasn't this glass come down to fishtanks or if it has could you
give me an address for shopping/comparing?
Thanks.

Adequate light intensity for Acropora Tortusa by
Timothy Tom
Expecting a frag of Acropora Tortusa; a beautiful deep blue color.
The frag has been grown under 400 Watt Ushios (don't know the color).
I was planning to place this frag directly below a 250 Watt HQI 10K
mini-pendant. There is about 10" of water, between the frag and the
surface of the water. ...

Diagnosing CoralLife Light Fixture by

I have a coralife MH light that is 2 years old. It seems that one of
the power supplies is a little weak although the MH lights are
definitely old. Only one of the power supplies can light up each light,
and after the light has been lit it won't re-light until it cools off.
Where does one buy...

Wattage and Lumens of Various Light Types by
Timcat
I have a puzzling question. In researching lights to set up a new tank, I
can't find anything relating Fluorescent tube wattage and MH wattage to
lumens, or a comparison to incandescent...like you always see on CF tubes
for home lighting, i.e. 20W CF equals a 100W incandescent bulb. I'm
wondering...
