A Few Newb Questions... by
Mort
Hi all,
I have my first Reef tank which is going on 6 months old now so I have
started to add a "few" things that I have been waiting for. Although I have
done a lot of reading and made a few mistakes as well as learning a couple
of lessons along the way, I still have a few BASIC Questions that I...

Interested beginner by
GraceCat
I've had freshwater off and on for as long as I can remember. But we're
building a new house and I've been thinking in a few months when we move
in, I'd like to use the new and bigger space for a sal****er aquarium.
I'm leaning towards a 30 hexagon shaped (the tall cylindrical style)
aquarium with...

Mixing Clowns... by
Mort
I have a 75g about 5 months old. In addition to a few damsels, I have 2
percula clowns. I've recently fallen in love with the gold stripe maroon
clown. I know it is not "advisable" to mix different clowns but I have
successfully kept several FW fish together when it was not "advisable"
without...

Serpent/Brittle Star question... by
Dan Norgard
Hi, All
My LFS (90 miles away) has a serpent star but says it will eat all the good

only good remarks.
Thanks,
Dan

Horseshoe Crabs by
Mort
I was at the LFS today and bought a horseshoe crab.
I trusted this LFS and have for years. An example was for the long tentacle
anemone. I was gonna buy one but they guy said not a good idea cuz their
feet were hurt when they were harvested and he showed me the injuries.
Anyway, I decided to...

copepods for mandarine goby by
John B
Does anyone know where I can get some of these to seed with? Any suggestions
on how to raise these things properly, and have enough for a mandarine
before he eats it all?
TIA

Where/how to place corals? by
Scott Bennett
Is there a source that can tell me where to place various
corals/anemones to best effect/security? Or should I just plunk them
down in various spots? I can see on various sales websites that some
that need more/less light, more/less current, space/not, so that would
lead to some placement...

Curing Live Rock by
Tom Burns
Okay, so I understand now that the curing process is necessary to allow
the dead stuff on the rock to cycle away all the nasty things that
happen when it dies.
If I buy live rock from a reputable store, that has been properly cured
since shipping (ie it would be fine to put in his display tanks),...

Donnie Vazquez
Does anyone know what kind of fish Deb is? She's the blue and white

wow!..... by
Marc Levenson
I saw one just like that one at the LFS, and I agree about the color. However,
what you really want to know is what it will eat in your tank, or what you have
to provide to keep it alive.

anemone sizes by
John B
Is it normal for a sebae anemone to shrink to about 1/3 the size from early
in the morning to about 30 minutes after the lights go on?
From what I'm reading I'm cruel to have a sebae as my first anemone because
I'm inexperienced...I was experimenting with water flow direction today and
the sebae...

Sand-sifting by
Don Geddis
I'm getting a lot of algae growth on my live sand, mostly an ugly brown but
some green and other colors. I've heard that various sand-sifting organisms,
such as a sand-sifting starfish or sand-sifting cucumber, can help control
this algae growth on the sand.
Anyone have any experience with this,...

Deep Sand Bed by
Joseph
Can somebody explain, or direct me to a good explanation of what the
DSB is?
This is the first time I've heard of it, and of the dangers of
disturbing it.
I have a 15 gal. reef, and, if I remember correctly about 20# of live
sand... I use a gravel vaccuume in the once a week... Is this...
