Who has done their own timing belt change... by bob
Accord, 2000, V6, vtec. This job looks to be pretty big and complex. Obviously one should also do the water pump once inside there too. Does the Honda service and repair manual do a good job in outlining this job? I've done timing chains on big American V8's, but I think thats a...

white goop in coolant and a shot water pump by [email protected]
so i'm hoping this isn't the head gasket that went too, but i have a '88 CRX Si, and after replacing the thermostat it started overheating. the water pump had been showing signs of failure before - chirping, etc - and now it has gone. but the part that scares me is the white crap in the coolant,...

White Car, little black speckles (dots) on the trunk area? by [email protected]
I have a white car, and it has little black speckles on the trunk area. When I wash it, the little black speckles (dots) become little brown speckles, but will not totally go away. I'm not sure if this is rust, or the beginning stages of rust, or just won't go away because I'm not using a strong...

Whistling wind noise on Odyssey by [email protected]
My family has just purchased a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX. It's a sweet car all around. But the only complaint we have is a whistling wind noise when the driver's window is open. We took it to the dealer and the problem somehow disappeared. They said it could be the windshield. But the whistling noise...

Whining noise when putting vehicle in reverse - 2001 Accord by RandyB
I have a 2001 6 cylinder AT accord.Intermittenly when placing the vehicle in reverse I hear a shrill whining noise which seems to originate in the back wheel area. Suspect origin is with the brakes or brake linings. So far it has been difficult for mechanics to diagnose.

Which Transmission Oil ? by [email protected]
Could anyone give me advice on which manual transmission oil to use for my 2000 Accord 2.0 SE Exec. The guy at the dealers just quoted 10W-40 engine oil, "The same they use for the engine oil changes in the workshop".... The service manual states Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF), which seems...

We are in the USA. Granddaughter is looking to buy her first car. She is talking Honda Civic. Don't know why, but she believes that is what she wants. She will have about $5,000 (US) to spend. I lean toward something not more than 5 years old. Haven't started looking but thought I would...

Which relay is bad when fuel pump doesn't work? by micky
My next-door neighbor has a 2001 Honda Accord EX with a 4-cyl engine. It wouldn't start, but did start when starting fluid was sprayed in the air intake. This indicates most likely the fuel pump or fuel pump relay. The dealer told her he has never had a bad fuel pump, but the relay...

which minivan to buy? by snow
My 1992 Dodge Caravan is getting old (it runs well, been lucky..at 150,000) and I am planning to buy a minivan this summer. It won't be a new one. It will be most likely 2 to 4 years old depending on the model. I noticed that Ford minivans are the cheapest, followed by Dodge. The Toyota Siennas and...

which interior color hides dirt better? by Zen Cohen
Looking at a new CR-Vs with black and beige leather interior. Seems the black would hide dirt better but wanna make sure. I have two golden retrievers and they are going to be in the car a lot. Also, I'm in Houston where it's hot as hell. Does black really absorb a lot more heat than lighter...
