Hood supposed to be insulated? by [email protected]
Just got my 98 Accord back from body shop after a front-ender. Just wondering - is the hood supposed to have insulation under it? Because this one doesn't - it is bare metal (well, painted). Did they leave something off?

License plate light by [email protected]
The light above my license plate is missing (from a previous accident, probably). There's a multi-pin connector hanging down through a hole, which I presume should be covered by plastic or something. What parts do I need? Does the cover just "pop" on to the trunk or does it glue?

Crank bolt marked. by Burt S.
I'd loosen the crank bolt then marked the bolt, washer and pulley. It took three hard push to release. Each push produces a crack. Upon release I quickly tighten the bolt to 83-ft-lb, there is no snap or crack. Then release again but no crack. Then realizes that I should have mark the bolt before...

Fixing a mutilated power window door frame. 89 Accord Honda. by Burt Squareman
The driver side power window works fine for years but recently it will roll up halfway and stop. In an attempt to get it up (in the pouring rain) I rock the switch quickly while pulling the window up by hand. This was not a good idea. An inch of the door frame that hold the bolts are gone. The door...

How to temporary chill a car with non-working AC. by Burt Squareman
The A/C system in an `89 old Honda is completely dead. They quoted a price of about $1500 to fix but the car's worth as much as that. I like to put in a 700 watt 117V portable or standard home air conditioner in the trunk but worry it may drain the battery. Is it possible to make a difference by...

Increasing fuel mileage by injecting ether. by Burt Squareman
Several years ago I've read a book on how to inject ether in low amounts into the carburetor to increase gas mileages. I'd been wanting to add ether or some octane booster into the fuel tank and adjust the inputs into the O2 sensor to trick it to thinking that it's running rich. In theory, I may...

Radiator drain cock - how tight by butch burton
Just had a radiator replaced in a 97 accord - the first replacement radiator leaked - Modine made in Mexico and now I discovered the replacement is leaking around the drain cock or through the drain cock. The plastic valve in the drain cock was fairly loose. Is finger tight enough and is there...

Odyssey vs Caravan by butch burton
A friend asked me for my opinion on these two vehicles. His wife likes the seats in the Caravan better and they can get a "real deal" from the dealer. I stopped by a DC booth at a local festival and this dealer sold both DC and Honda. The rep I talked to turned out to sell DC and said the...

Oil change interval by Butch Haynes
Took my '07 Accord V6 back to the selling dealer for its first oil change. I bought the car just over 11 months ago, the maintenance minder showed 5% oil life left with 6570 miles on the odometer-- I don't drive much... The service writer starting chewing my ass for going beyond 6 months for the...

2000 Accord Idle Issues by Butt0nz
After reading several posts regarding rough idle I still haven't come across anything describing my issue so I thought I would post in hopes of a reply/answer. I have a 2000 5spd manual transmission accord that is having sporadic idling issues. It seems to mainly trigger when I brake hard (or...

just sold my 87 honda accord 3 door with 216K miles on it for $200. replaced it with a new toyota yaris. The accord was nicer, should have fixed it up and kept it. Best engine I've ever had in a car. 2.O EFI. Thanks for the memories.

Consider buying American! by [email protected]
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23124844/ GM just made it known that they lost 39 billion in 2007, the largest ever annual loss for a US automaker. The big three are losing money, and if we don't give them the support they need, they are going to go under. Consider buying an American car. Here are...

Import owners are to blame for the recession by [email protected]
If all Americans bought American cars, the US economy would be rockin and rollin right now. Don't give me that stuff about Toyota and Honda manufacturing over here either. GM employs 130,000 in the United States. Toyota employs 30,000, Honda less than that. Most of the import jobs are just blue...
