Drum brakes - do you disconnect the parking brake cable? by
Mad Roger
I haven't done drum brakes ever but I'm faced with these drum brakes where
I'd just like to ask a couple of questions from those of you who have done
drum brakes before.
1. I released the parking brake from the cabin and screwed these 2-inch
long metric 8mm x 1.25mm threads bolts to pull the drum...

I broke off my Oxygen sensor by
Danny Beardsley
In the process of trying to replace my O2 (Oxygen) sensor on my 1993
honda civic EX, I broke the old one off. I tried some usual stuff,
knocking it with a hammer, liberal WD-40, running the car for a bit to
heat up the manifold. Anyway, TINK! it broke. Any suggestions?

Fuel Vaporization and fuel economy by
cody_e
Hi, my name's Cody and I think I'll make this place a regualr hangout.
I'm 16 and have been driving for over 9 months. School is about 12
miles from my house. I drive a Dodge Neon so gas isn't that bad of a
problem, though I'd like to get better gas mileage. I stumbled on this
concept called "fuel...

Adjust headlight by
Andy
My mechanic adjusted one of my headlights because it was out of alignment due to some body work to my right fender.
However, only the up/down is adjustable.
I wonder why the right/left is not adjustable?
I seem to recall in the 70s where both adjustment could be made.

Extended oil changes and high mileage by
Frank
I searched pretty extensively before starting this thread, but I'm
looking for real-life stories -- not opinions, arguments, theories,
etc. So at risk of starting another oil war -- ;o)
I run 24,000 miles a year of mostly interstate -- about the easiest
life a vehicle can live --, and I'm looking...

I couldn't get the photos to load. Maybe something wrong on my side.
I'm a tightwad, but at 109K miles, I would put the heads back on
without reworking...

liquid silicone? by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
Does anyone sell liquid silicone that is just in a bottle, not a spray can?
Reason I ask is, I have been in the habit of using silicone on my door
gaskets, but only have it in two forms - first, as a spray lubricant,
and secondly, as a grease (Sil-Glyde) either one of which works, but is
not as...

Anco wiper blades called a CR best buy by

Even the OEM ones don't seem to last as long these days.

For a streak-free windshield, Consumer Reports recommends a wiper made
by Southfield-based Federal-Mogul Corp.
The magazine tested and ranked 15 models of wiper blades for...

de-stinking a car interior by
aemeijers
I'm sure this has come up on here before, but I can't remember what the
best recommended product was. I think something died in my van, and I
need to de-stink it. I pulled the removable seats loose and did an
eyeball inspection, but found no little corpses. Not yet desperate
enough to pull the...

topping up sealed battery by
William R. Watt
I topped up the water in a sealed battery today. Last winter
someone wrote here that it could be done. I waited for a warm
sunny day to set the battery out in teh sun for the plastic cover
to heat up so it would be more likely to bend than crack. The top
was glued or heat sealed on. There were some...

Mysterious dead battery in 2000 Honda Accord by
woger151
Last weekend my wife reported that the battery was dead in our 2000
Honda Accord V6.
I charged battery overnight; started fine after I put it back in.
Looked for drains with a multimeter; after a few minutes, current went
down to 12 mA, which AFAICT means there's no way it could empty the
battery....

Too goofy? by
With all the problems we have discussed recently about cooling systems, I
would like to
revisit a question that, I believe, was posted some time ago:
Basically, why could not a system be developed that used an
electromechanical
clutch coupled to the water pump?
You might not need a thermostat at...

I was asked to go look at a car with a gizmo

Polishing my headlights by

3 weeks ago I polished my headlight lenses.
They came out great.
I had replaced a bulb and noticed again how cloudy they were, 2005 car.
It took about 2 hours but would have taken less if my back didn't hurt
and I had to sit down over and over, and if then I didn't start
listening to the...

I'm not using a K&N air filter ever again... by
[email protected]
On my 1991 Plymouth Sundance RS 2.5 TBI, I bought a K&N air filter from
Autozone (they had to special order it) and have been running it for a
little while to see how it performed. K&N claims that you get better
air flow with them.
Unfortunately, during the time I've been using it, I haven't...
