Yeah, I know, pull the fuse!! Yeah, I know, the fuse labeled
"alternator"..... :) :)
But when I did that, the alternator light or battery lite would not come on.
AND, iirc, I DID check the voltage at the battery, to...

Superglue oil leak fix by
[email protected]
I just read an interesting thread that discussed the use of superglue
to fix an oil leak on an airplane. (The trick was to attach a shop vac
to a breather so the glue is sucked into the crack.) The previous owner
of my Rabbit must have stripped the oil pan drain bolt threads, as a
helicoil-type...

2001 caravan blowing power steering hoses by
Chris Lott
I have a 2001 Dodge Grand caravan which keeps blowing out power
steering hoses. My mechanic asked the Dodge dealership, who recommended
"trying" taking the ps cooler out of the loop. We did, and it did it
again a few weeks later (blew hose right when starting up on a
relatively warm day when I'd...

Transmission problems by

I have a Mercury Capri 1991 convertible. The car was owned by someone
else briefly before I got it, but who ever had it, probably put motor
oil in the place where transmission oil should go. My probelms started
with the transmission when I tried to change the transmission fluid,

Lug Nut Thread Galling by
Paul Hovnanian P.E.
I've been experiencing some problems with lug nuts on a '97 Toyota
Landcruiser seizing. The end result is that I shear off the occasional
stud when attempting to remove a nut. I've been careful about checking
the nuts' torque, but this doesn't seem to help.
The nuts, studs and axle are steel but...

s10 door hinge spring by
Bob Urz
After much manipulation, i got my old upper door hinge apart on my 1996
S10. I had to pry the spring out of the upper hinge to be able to get
the hinge pin out from the bottom of the hinge.
I was able to get the aftermarket bushings and pin back in.
But, i cannot seem to get the door spring back...

How to become do-yourself-mechanic by
Abbas
Once my mechanic ask me, what will you do if your car stop running? My
answer was, I will call AAA.
When I read posts here then I feel that I'm from other planet,Mars? Who
knows nothing about autos. (neither spaceships)
How can I be self-help-mechanic or do-yourself-mechanic.
I bought the Ford...

Help 96 Honda Civic "Check Engine light" and "ABS light" by
[email protected]
I bought a 96 Honda civic. It runs fine. But sometimes after about 5-10
mins on the road the CEL indicator comes one. Sometimes it doesn't. I
short connected the SCS connector and the CEL flashed one long and one
short which I think should be 1 and 10 not 11. What are the problems?
Are they serious...

Uncut grill? by
Ludwig
Does anyone know where to get uncut steel or aluminum grill material?
All the sources for grills I've found are prefabbed for specific
vehicles, and most metal suppliers only have that really heavy stuff
that's not meant for automotive use.
Thanks.

Diesel question by
Charles
On an older diesel like my '85 GM 6.2L, what exactly happens when you press
down on the accelerator pedal? I understand that it controls fuel in some
way, but how? As I understand it, the injector pump controls the specific
charge of fuel to each cylinder for each firing. If this is changed...

How to fix this exhaust... by

This is on a 96 Lexus LS400, which is otherwise in great condition.
What are my options here? Sounds like a Mustang now, but I guess I
gotta fix it.
How much should this cost to cut apart and insert a new piece and weld
it back in? Which shops are best for exhaust...
