Hesitation and sputter during acceleration by 3wood
I have a 98 explorer,V6,125,000 miles, automatic tranny. I notice while cruising at highway speeds (50-70), the vehicle will begin to hesitate/sputter as I attempt to accelerate. Is there perhaps a sensor that may be causing this? Otherwise the tranny itself has been serviced every 30,000 and...

New PCM? And will it need the calibration code? by Happy Traveler
My '98 (5.0 V8) keeps complaining about 'intermittent IAT'. Quite easy to see on a scanner that the temperature reading jumps to something around 340 once in a while. This is consistent with a shorted sensor, except that there is nothing wrong with the sensor, or even with the wire harness --.the...

Emergency Brake Dragging? by Ted
Hello, 95 Exp 119k 4WD Replaced rear rotors/shoes last week. Rust must have flaked off and jammed between pad and rotor, as shoes were no where near to the rivets, yet rotor was scored. Emergency shoes not stuck as wheels turned easily. After lots of hammer hits to rotor to release it, I tried...

I have a 96 Ford Explorer with a 5.0 engine and I have a small leak in my radiator. It is not running hot but the resevoir is empty in 3 days. I purchased a new radiator but to save on labor expenses, I choose to do the work myself. Any instructions on how to replace it will be appreciated.

94 Explorer A/C Clutch not operating by ckirk
I was reading the topic "94 Explorer A/C Clutch not operating" posted in late May; I have a similar problem on a '94 and concluded that the system was likely low on refrigerant based on voltage readings at the pressure switch. The problem I have is compounded. When operating in defrost mode last...

Auto Warranty History by D.D. Palmer
Does anyone here remember when the major manufacturers went from a 12/12 warranty to a 36/36? I know my parents bot a 1982 Mercury Zephyr (Ford Fairmont clone) because it had an unheard of 24/24 warranty that was a special promotion at the time. I also remember buying a Mercedes 190 in 1983 that...
