Good fish to cycle and Angelfish tank by
Andy Pastuszak
I have a tank in my living room that I want to eventually set up as an
Angelfish tank.
What's a good species of fish I can use to cycle the tank that will get
along with the angelfish when I am ready to stock the tank?

Turkey? by
JK Coney
Hey I took a chance and threw in a small piece of turkey to my pack. It
took awhile, but after a few half hearted pecks they really started to go
after it! Who knew?

south african cichlid questions by
EMC
Hi,
I have 2 South African Cichlids, one Albino and the other Black (I
know there are more subcategories, but this is the basic version).
Recently the Albino started exhibiting labored open mouthed breathing
and would not eat, he has since died. All water levels checked out
fine after testing. This...

Keeping Fry Alive by
JK Coney
Exactly what do the adults do to keep the free swimming fry alive that I
can't? I wait until they are swimming a couple of days. I've tried a couple
times to remove some to a hanging breeder, and they all die within hours.
Water and temp are the same, and I add a drop or 2 of tube fry food.

Dempsey Babies by
JK Coney
So I added fish to be a "dither" for my Green Terrors beating on each
other. A few black tetras, 2 giant danios, another Terror, and finally a
pair of small Jack Dempseys. Well to my surprise the smaller JD laid eggs on
a rock in a cave, and the bigger one totally took over. He chased her out...

Green Terrors again by
JK Coney
Interesting fish. First of all even after all this time, they are just so
damned skittish. Even when eating they dart up and then, back down again
like lightning. The bigger one dominates and chases the smaller all day. Now
that that she just laid eggs, she can't get him/her to get involved at...

plant-friendly cichlids? by
Michael Grossman
Are there any cichlids, other than the most obvious rams, angelfish, and
keyholes that do not dig? I find cichlids interesting, but I like to have
plants in my tanks and prefer to do the aquascaping myself. Maybe some
kind of shell dwellers?
Please only respond if you actually have experience...

Amazon Sword Plants holes by
JK Coney
Who's more likely to be eating my plants? Pleco's or mystery snails? Both
introduced at the same time, and I don't catch either one in the act. Holes
up and down leaves.

Four old puzzles #1 by
James Dow Allen[_2_]
I think one reason rec.puzzles has become less popular
is the SPAM onslaught. Why don't we find an otherwise
idle ng, perhaps rec.aquaria.freshwater.cichlids as I
have done here, begin cross-posting there, and hope
the spammers don't follow?
Please don't reveal why I aver this memo has unique...
