"Grrrr" wheel bearing or engine mount problem?? by
millinghill
Hi.
I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. 109k miles. 4 brand new tires (last
week). For the past 6months, something in front left of car makes a
"grrrrr" noise which only starts to be noticeable when going faster
than 30mph, and increases in volume, and pitch, with speed. I don't
think it's the engine or...

Before I start describing the problem, I’ll beg for your patience:
1997 SL SOHC, 186600 Km, standard transmission; in Toronto (Canada)
weather; and I love this car.
Last December, engine was having high idling speed (1550 to 2000 rpm)

Which engine has better reliability? 1.9 SOHC or 1.9 DOHC? by
wiguy79
Hi everyone,
I recently was looking at a Saturn SC2 and the dealer told me that in
his opinion the 1.9 DOHC is more reliable. Is that true? I know in the
history of GM, most of their DOHC engines are crap so I was wondering if
he was just telling me that to get me to buy the car. For...

Cracked Head 1991 Saturn by
Nobody U. Know
I picked up a beater car and I suspect it has a cracked head. The coolant
looks frothy and there is oil getting into the number 1 and 2 cylinders
(plugs oily). It is vey little oil, but builds up as it sits. The car
stutters at very low load as if compression was zig-zagging up and down. At
full...

2006 Saturn Preview Now Online by
CE
Continuous improvement has always been a hallmark of Saturn, and for the
2006 model year things are no different. Automotive News reported earlier
this year that Saturn informed retailers at the North American Dealer
Association's (NADA) annual convention that both the ION and VUE will...

Need used Saturn purchase advice by
Darius
I'm looking to get rid of my fairy unreliable 94 Pontiac Trans Sport.
I want something smaller and (much) more fuel efficient and best of all
made of polymer, which is about the only feature I still enjoy about my
van.
I have my eyes set on a 2001 Saturn SC1 with 5 speed and approx. 70,000
km (or...

Starting/idle problem by
William Hughes
1995 SW2 DOHC auto a/c @184,000
Problem: Starts hard when cold, must floor accelerator, blows blue-gray smoke
for about five seconds after start. Will not start at all when hot; just cranks
and barely fires. Acts like it's flooded. Runs fine when it does start, although
idle speed is high (@1,100...

Oil change by
John Sloan
I've had my new Vue 2 weeks and have skimmed thru the manual a couple times.
I did not see a recommended oil change interval. All I found was a
recommendation to change oil within 600 miles after the oil change lite
comes on. Is this the accepted interval or does everybody go by the 3000
mile...

twistec or OEM motor mounts? by
marx404
I need motor mounts for my 94 SL2 (dogbone mounts). I am comparing twistec
($80. a pair) to stock mounts. From what I have read, the twiscecs will not
dampen the engine vibration like the stock mounts will. On the other hand,
my mounts are already pretty worn and it doesnt vibrate al that bad,...

I scanned back over several postings, but didn't see anything about this.

out. Probably happens during the daytime too, but hard to see...

98 SL2 shakes when accelerating....? by
APRead
My 98 Saturn SL2 (74K miles) has recently started to slightly shake/jitter
when I accelerate (usually only until 3500 RPMs). It's sort of hard to
explain, but I would best describe the feeling as similiar to what it
would feel like if the tires were slipping occassionally (although that...

drain plug is stuck by

Anyone ever have their drain plug get stuck? I have a 2001 L300

guy at one dealer said he thought there was a nut on the inside of the
oil pan that could have broken loose. The service department at a

Hello,
I have a 94 Saturn SC2 with rear disk breaks, I need to change the pads on
them, when I pulled the caliper off I tried to push the piston back in and
it would not move, I then tried with a clamp and it still would not move.
Yes the emergancy break was off. but that did get me thinking that...

Oil for older engines? by
Barry Schnoor
Just heard a castrol ad on the radio for oil for older engines...preventing
oil burnoff.
My '94 (157,000 miles) SL2 used just over a quart between oil changes (2,500
miles) when it was new. Now she's burning more. I'm using 10-30 oil.
Anyone have experience with oil for high-mileage cars? ...
