Fuel Pump Timer? Pump Location? by
Nehmo
I successfully changed the fuel pump on my 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L 126"
wheelbase, flex-fuel truck . But I have some unanswered questions,
and they'll plague me the rest of my life if they remain so.
Is there a fuel pump timer? How does it work, and where is it?
If indeed, the pump is cooled by...

pressure drop across air filter by
Matt
I would like to be able to measure the pressure drop caused by an air
filter. Then I could compare different makes and models of filters, and
compare a new filter to a used one.
My air filter has a peculiar configuration that lets me put the open end
of a clear plastic tube on the inside of the...

"Full Synthetics" by
Rudy Hiebert
It may come as a shock to some but "Full" is not the same as "100%".
The brands that have that on the lable want to make you get the
impression that it is. It's not illegal because there is no rule that
says anything about a minimum amount of synthetics before it's called
"Full".

Lawn Mowers and Energy Usage by
PolicySpy[_3_]
Well, grass consumes carbon dioxide and outputs oxygen. But mowing the
grass consumes oxygen and outputs carbon dioxide. And of course mowing
the grass consumes fuel and outputs various air pollution.
So what's the most efficient way to mow the grass ?
First consider the engines. In general, an...

Oil Pressure Gauge and Engine death by
CL (dnoyeB) Gilbert
Trying to get some lessons learned from my first car 'death.'
To make it short, the oil gauge started behaving curiously to me
probably last year this time. But since the oil light didnt come on,
and the pressure seemed high enough, nothing seemed wrong. This turned
out to be bad because the odd...

Cracked Dashboard on Late-model Chevy Cavalier by
[email protected]
For anyone with a late-model Chevy Cavalier with the front part of the
dash crack, there is a guy trying to put together a class-action suit
with a lawyer to get Chevy to replace this defective part at no charge.
So far, he has had 136 people sign up. If you are interested, the

Mark A., again, your thinking is very old-fashioned when
it comes to comparing 0w-30 to 5w-30. As I said, you should
consider doing some current reading about the 2 viscocities.
Dr. A. E. Haas, a Florida physician and surgeon who has
researched fluid dynamics for decades, has written the...

Serpentine belt replacement with *newest design* belt? by
Lawrence Glickman
I went to pep boys today to buy a replacement serpentine belt for my
vulcan V6 182 cu inch, with air conditioning.
So what I end up with is a Dayco, lists for $56, got it for $35. Now,
the reason I am listing this post is because this is a cogged
serpentine belt. Looks like a cross between a...

Check Engine light: A brilliant idea? by
Hugo Schmeisser
Yesterday I rode with a young lady in her '99 Civic. During the ride I
noticed her Check Engine light was on and asked her about it. She
replied that it had been on for about a week. She wasn't in a hurry to
get it looked at because the last time she did, it cost her many
hundreds of dollars to get...

About jumping car - Connection Negative by
klabu
About jumping car -
When attaching NEGATIVE to the target car - what is the difference btwn
attaching to battery negative pole and attaching to the metal part of the
car ?
Why "attaching to the metal part of the car" is the "default instruction"
than otherwise ?
Thanks

###TIMING BELT CONSPIRACY THEORY### by
[email protected]
Just my rotten luck:
Back in summer of 2003, had a local independent change
out my 1996 Ford Contour(Mondeo) belt, low 60,000s.
He had the car for three days, because he did all the work
himself. Second day, got a phone call from this guy: "Hey
look, sorry this timing belt is taking longer than...
